Once in two years, and it was very shallow, like a paper cut. Lost my concentration and moved my head with razor touching cheek. Bad idea.

Thanked: 4I sense a trend forming here, only when I'm in a hurry. Because of this very reason I now get up a half and hour earlier so I can take my time shaving. Since then, no cuts!

while i shave or while i hone my razors?
well i answer for both;
while i shave; i can say once every 2 or 3 day/shave.
for honing; much more than 3 or 4 for every time.

Thanked: 7For the last couple years, rarely. I like to think each cut = learning experience. So I've learned not to puff out my cheek with the blade against it, not to go over an area "one more time" without soap, and of course, not shave in a hurry.

If I am careful I rarely nick myself, maybe once every 10 shaves or so. Where I get into trouble is when I rush... Those days almost always result in a nick or two!

Thanked: 10I get the occasional nick here and there but generally only cut myself when I pull out the square point once a month or so. One day I will get that thing figured out

Thanked: 0I started with a Shavette and that cut me everytime I went near it! The Straights are a lot more forgiving and I (touch wood) seem to be honing my technique daily and now rarely see blood. The first time I use my wedge, the 90 degree point dug in deep. That will be a reminder for a long while yet. Like lots of members have pointed out, you need to CONCENTRATE and think about what you are doing. I have, also , sliced my ear. Not to the point of needing it to be surgically reattached, but I did feel stooopid.

Usually when I think I've finally mastered straight razor shaving. Just get a little to big for my britches.
