Thanked: 0Experiences with Whipped Dog Shaving?
Hi all, my experience in shaving is limited to a Gillette Fusion. I can use one blade almost daily for several months, and my skin still feels soft to the touch after shaving even with the same blade for so long. However, on closer inspection there's still a tiny bit of stubble left on my face. Fusion blades are hideously expensive, so I went looking for an alternative. I want to spend as little as possible on trying straight razor shaving, so that if I don't like it, I won't have lost too much money.
Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment
Does anyone have any experience in buying from this site, and would the $25 razor be any good? I realize you need a strop as well to keep it sharp, but I don't wan to buy one unless I actually plan to use the razor more than once.
Who can help?

Lots of people have had nothing but positive experiences with whipped dog and their products. Buy with confidence.

Experiences with Whipped Dog Shaving?
I got one a bit before Thanksgiving from Whipped Dog. Good people and good pricing.
Liked it enough that my wife got me a Dovo for Christmas.

Thanked: 28I just got my set in the mail from Larry at whipped dog recently, I was very happy with the service he was extremely helpful, they were out of stock of the strops so he even sent me a piece of leather to do me over until he has them in stock and sends me the proper strop. The razor was definitely the best I've shaved with so far (tried honing a razor myself before that and using a shavette with replaceable blades before that)
the razor isn't something you'd put on display or anything but it's definitely good enough to shave with. I got the 38 dollar razor so I don't know what the 25 dollar one is like but i imagine the 25 dollar one would be as described "cosmetic flaws" but still able to shave.
welcome to SRP by the way, what location are you in?

Thanked: 1184I would suggest reading some from the library on your first shave also. I just went for it myself and turns out my instincts matched the advice in hindsight. I would say it's not something you will be able to give a good chance if you only use it once as there is a learning curve to it. If you honestly want to give it a good chance at success get all the basics. The warm lather and brush is half the experience as opposed to the cold slap in the face from a can or the oily mess of the Nivea cream on your hands. It took me some time to use it at first and that turns a lot of guys off who are in a hurry to shave and get going. I have cut my time down to almost equal to what it used to take with the modern plastic stuff. You are wise to try it , just give it an honest shot if you do is all I am saying and good luck , welcome to SRP.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the input guys! I live in Holland, so I hope shipping is reasonable, since he says he charges "$10 if shipped outside the US and Canada" for the rich man's strop. I had to check an atlas to make sure, but Holland is outside of the US so it should be $10. I've been wrong before though. I'll write him after the holidays, he seems to be rather busy at the moment.

If you don't get a fair deal and a good price from Larry/Whipped Dog you will probably be the first. Larry/Whipped Dog are super.
