I received my brush today..
I'm gonna return it back the land of Canadia .
Its not Silver tip or it is but its 2 band or whatever , the density is quite poor but it does have a good backbone or at least compared to what im used to .
The vendor in Canada told me that they buy them as Silver tips and sent me a link to there buyers, wholesaler site who has it listed as a Sliver tip but on the Vie Long site this brush is categorised underneath the silver tips as a white badger hair brush.
My search will continue onward

In the land of Badger Brushes there are few signposts. Know your supplier or maker.

I've ordered my Thater 4125/00 .. its 87mm total height with a 22mm knot.
I have to wait until mid April though as these are made to order.
Notice they have changed their logo because the old style wore away after time..

Thanked: 1Never gave much thought to it. I have the L'Occitane traveling brush and that works fine. It works and does the job that it's supposed to, and that works for me.

Whatever brush allows you to build a robust lather, that causes your edge to glide across your skin free of irritation . . . THAT is the best brush I the world.
Now, which one of the thousands of brushes that are out there this brush may be, well . . . YMMV.
Have to disagree about Irish women, though . . . Salma Hayek is a latina, so Latina women is the hawtest. It's simple science.

I spoke to Harald Schuldes of Thäter (a one-man-two-women operation, by the way), who has been making shaving brushes for decades. He says there are three types of badger, black (for paint brushes), brown (low end badger), and silvertip. The rest is marketing. I'll leave it up to potential buyers whether they believe that or not.
When it comes to brushes, three things count for me:
- Country of origin: While badger hair will inevitably come out of China, I do not feel that I have to support poor working conditions there (yes, my electronic devices hail from China, too, of course, but that is all I own from there). Which leaves you with European brush makers. The Golden Nib (and, by association, the vast majority of so called custom brushes) source in China. That is a definite no-no for me. Not least because the Chinese cut their knots into shape, and are known to bleach badger hairs to make them look more expensive.
- Longevity: I do not own many brushes (why would I?), but the ones I own I bought to keep. Meaning, I am inert to seemingly high prices if the brush is guaranteed to last decades. Again, Chinese imports fail, because of the poor craftsmanship. The few Frank Shaving brushes I owned fell apart fairly quickly.
- Ergonomics: Some people like fancy handles, or handle materials. Wood has no place in my bathroom, though, and I want my brushes to never slip. Which leaves Shavemac and Thäter, both of whom source from a Nuremberg company producing octagonal plastic handles. Not fancy, but extremely functional.
Personally, I quite like my Thäter 4125-6 two band brush. But that is just a matter of personal preference.
