This issue has been covered many times before. Two band hair is just particularly long silvertip hair.

This issue has been covered many times before. If done properly, two band brushes offer more backbone than three band brushes with shorter silvertip hair.

Thanked: 3225Then there really is more than one type of silver tip as has been the opinion of quite a few people and has been stated so many times before. Not all silver tip knots are created equal and saying that they are all just silver tips is a little too simplistic imo. If there really was no difference then just pick any old silver tip brush as they would all feel and act the same. That is the issue not what makes a silver tip one thing or the other or how many times it's been covered.

Bob, I think you are confusing two things, thus arriving at the wrong conclusion. I'll highlight the problem area as I see it.
You see, if you ask for types of hair, you should accept an answer to that question. Instead, you mix up hair "grades" (to use the marketing slang word) with types of knots made with said hairs.
Besides which, I don't think anyone will say that all silvertips are created equal. The hairs can be grey(ish) badger bleached to resemble silvertip, or they can be cut into funny shapes, thus altering their backbone. But again, this has nothing to do with the hairs themselves.
So: There are three types of badger hair, black, grey, silver. Then there are two types of knots, three band and two band. The rest is marketing smoke and mirrors used by brush vendors to advertise their products as being somehow special.

Oh, it certainly is a matter of faith. You can (a) choose to believe what someone with a few decades of first hand experience tells you, or (b) believe what people who have never made a single knot in their lives tell you, or (c) believe what people with a vested interest in selling brushes with maximum profit tell you.
Sadly, internet forums can only exist if people believe in (b) and (c). Which is fine by me. I'm not here to convince you or anybody else. I just thought that open minded people would benefit from some input from (a). Enjoy the rest of your day, Bob.
Regards,
Robin

That Darn Rob 28mm Brush
Just picked the 28mm knot made by That Darn Rob. Couldn't help myself. Lusted after it. Really seems to be a great brush and it is just beginning to bloom properly. Feels great in my hand and it is very soft. Just wanted to share.

The best brush out there.....the one that works best for you. I've got around thirty brushes, and only one I hated, and sent it to the monthly giveaway.
