Wow Tom, nice shine on that #3!
Also great to know it was designed to unscrew. Andrew's will once more if I have my way with it once it arrives.
I also like the height of your replacement knot, not too short at all.
Seeing as how this is Andrews, he will make the final selection of knot and height we go to.
I hope to have one of these longer handles in my kit one day as well. Will be copying the dimensions on this one while in my care. So some cloning may occur.

Smaller than I was expecting. Stiff stiff bristles.
Cleaning to commence. More to follow.

    Wow! That got there fast.

Been thinking, as I pm'd you - if the knot is good and "healthy", this might be a case to keep original, I've got enough badger brushes to probably build one of the darn animals??

Will wait to hear what you think about the knot....

    Thanks Mike!!

It would look great and perform the same with a new Omega knot?

Is Omega a boar knot? And which one would you recommend?

Edited to add: if I have to replace the knot, then I would go badger, once this one if off original it's a moot point AFAIC...

Yes, an Omega boar! Harrywally is the expert there. He will know which one! I like my boars and badgers alike, but seem to lean toward long boar knots in the barber-style handles....
    Sometimes, anyway! YMMV

The original boar looks quite unused, but aged and yellowed.
Gonna see if, once able to unscrew again, I can invigorate the boar in some H2O2.
If it comes up clean and fresh looking, I'd say keep it original. If not, well the gloves are off.

Btw, quick measure says yup, 25mm knot x 62mm loft.

No doubt, I squeezed it a bit with the mic's.
Have a wick around the base of the crown holding some PB blaster around the threads.
That stuff works almost as good as mouse milk for seized hardware..
    Hopefully have it apart tonight.
