My bad, this is Phrank's brush...... Take that fancy inscriber and carve Wade & Butcher in the side of it.

Bah! Just need to stop before it is perfect! Aluminum is soft! Renwax is great with it, IMO.

I agree with Tom about taping up the hairs. I've resprayed wooden handles with badger knots already installed, used good quality painters tape, like that frog tape, taped right onto the badger hair and it doesn't hurt it. Even when you remove it, it peels away just fine. I imagine boar hair would survive the process even better.

What would those greaseless compounds do to soft aluminium?

I was speaking of a layer upside down and one upon it right side up (just to keep the sticky off the hairs), but you have a point with the frog tape. It seems to contain it'self quite well.
It may be the best option.
No greaseless and aluminium, I would think!

Actually, when I read that, for a split second I was like, "What a great ferkin' idea!!!", then I realized it would say Wade & Butcher and be shiny, and Tom would come down on Mike and I like the wrath of Natas!!!

I got it, red jewellers rouge on a very slow speed. 3/8 drill in vice would work, not?

If you want to dull the corners off everything, I think? Must be sanded and then LIGHTLY polished to make it look proper. I spent many hours over a bucket of water with these. wet-sanding.
Like blades and tang stamps. The ever-important script on the bottom should be considered as well.
The idea is to preserve and use. There will be pitting involved.
Stop short and see? (I have TOO much to restore! )

Haha, Ya your probably right Tom.

Well, I guess it's time to pull out the extended cut trilogy of lord of the rings Mike. Grab a six pack of PBR and some 600 W/D and go to town.

Anyway to chuck that thing? Good thing you didn't send it to me!

Letting the knot dry before I go to the next level. I wrap in Saran Wrap before electrical tape on brushes personally. Some good tips on polishing Tom. Neverdull is in my kit still, as is renwax.
There is a load of discoloration around the stamp , but hopefully not to much pitting.
Aluminium is a different alloy for sure, soft, and a pain to keep patina free. I'm thinking white tripoli on a soft cotton wheel would bring out the luster after the wet dry.
