Edit
Smaller isn't the best way to discribe it. It is a bit smaller but the biggest thing is the sides are angled so that it fits in the scuttle better.Last edited by RayD; 05-19-2006 at 06:27 AM.

It was the review on shaveblog that lead me to choose the smaller bowl, actually.

Thanked: 0I received my large Moss scuttle three days ago, so I have had three shaves with it. I also have a 22mm knot brush and I like the size of the scuttle. The reason I replaced my old mug (a year ago with a small dessert bowl) was because I got the new brush and the mug was too small. Personally I like room to spin the brush around to whip up a good lather.
As a review, this thing works. I have used it with Proraso tube and a tub of Old Taylor. As I fill my sink with hot tap water, I place the scuttle and brush in the sink and this fills the scuttle at the same time. I fish the scuttle out, dry the bowl with rag and put a dap of Proraso in. Let the brush drain a little give it a shake and then whip up a very nice warm lather. Of cousrse about way will get you here, but now the difference. With the brush sitting in the scuttle, it keeps it very warm. The second lather was just as warm as the first with no dipping in water. Normally I do a touch up pass with just watery fingers, but I tried the third time and the lather is still warm. Just as a test, I left the scuttle with lather and brush in it while I finished getting ready for the day. Whatever it took me, 10+ minutes, the lather was still warm. So it sat for about 30 minutes and the lather was still warm.
I takes me 15-20 minutes to shave depending on how anal I am that day about a smooth shave. So I would have to give this scuttle a big thumb up.

Doesn't the brush sit in the hot water.... That is what mine does.
