I like those. The ferrule is stronger and I can fit the knot tighter without fear of splitting.

I picked this one up in hopes of sending it out, and having it done. I talked with Andrew about it, and he tells me sure, but I believe you could do it yourself, I've seen a lot of Razors you've done in the past, and know you have the ability.

Well after looking into this thread, and looking at all the pics, I had to try myself.
    It came apart perfectly
The string was wrapped around the base of the knot, once removed I wiggled the knot free of the cup, then the same for the cup to the handle.
I figure the string was either a filler, or the binder for the hair.
Maybe its why their called knots...?

    I'll return...when its done.!!
I'm surprised you haven't already restored a few!

Hey!!! Don't rush me, big boy. [emoji38]
Its the first one I found in the wild.
Was lucky it was still there a week later, when I went back for it. Turned it down the first time, but when I came back, he threw in a Avon, short mug for free.

I'd have it finished tonight, but my air conditioner took a crap on me Saturday evening, and the parts stores aren't open on Sunday. So the humidity has hampered the drying of the urethane finish. But I fixed the AC unit about an hour ago, and things are cooling and drying down in the house now.
Who knows...may still get it finished tonight. Gotta run down the street and get a knot too

Maybe the string was a home cure for a loose knot? I have not noticed a string before.
