Thanked: 4206Thanks Steve. Appreciate the nice comments. Was a fun project for sure. Spawned a few nice handles out of the adventure and gave me the opportunity to work with high end badger hair as well as Chinese knots so I feel confidant in the recommendations I make one way or ta other now.
Andrew's rubberset started it all. Wouldn't have made jigs and such without the first one to copy from. Nor would I have tried had I not felt the finished handle with it's curves and flutes.
Think I'm going to make another one out of this kirinite material Mafuzal sent me as I have a few extra blanks to work with.
Most all of these first drafts have gone on to new homes now, or soon will.

It is fun to see others do things which most of us could never do, Mike!
You are quite the madman!
Thanks for sharing it all!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."

Great work on these brushes Mike!
Any new ones on the horizon ? I would love to get a hold of one if you have plans for more.
Great work on the flutes! I did the same for on a bunch of calls I turned a couple years ago, ended up making a jig for my mini mill and using a core box router bit, oh man did I butcher a few calls trying to get that jig worked out hahaa
very nice brushes

Thanked: 4206Thanks for the kind words, and actually I have a number of new knots on order currently for a bunch of brushes I want to turn in the pending winter season.
All two band as I am sold on the balance of tip softness and backbone still, providing the scrub I want, and still soft on the 'painting' strokes.
Have 23-25-30 mm knots coming over the next month.
A few new rubber sets will be in that run, as well as a couple of brush ideas that may turn out horribly as I will be trying to work with arylite and some other materials at the same time.
More ideas than spare time at the moment, but blink and I'll be buried in snow again, with nothing but time..
