Thanks for the correction on the studies. The only one I was aware of was the one that studied the Chinese made liquid around 2008 or so. Since I make my own "juice", I know what goes in it, so I'm not worried about it.
Congrats on stepping down from 36mg -- that is a bit high. I started at 18 and stepped down to 10 and am happy here.

Yeah, the Chinese stuff did have a trace of diethlyne glycol in one sample, but it was way below what's considered a health hazard... that's what the FDA didn't mention in their press release.
Many, many companies are strictly using USP (Unisted States Pharmacopia) or BP (Brittish Pharmacopia) grade propelyne glycol and glycerine. Also, for those who tend to freak out about propelyne glycol, remember that it's also used in snow cone flavoring, amongst many other things..."Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead

At least they don't use dihydrogen monoxide -- also present in anti-freeze, used widely in the death camps and directly responsible for the sinking of the Titanic!
Also, Propylene glycol is also used as a treatment for Ketosis in horses -- so it actually refines my health!
Seriously, though, after smoking for over 35 years, the latter part of it I couldn't lay down without hacking up a bunch of phlegm, I switched to the Ecig. Within a couple of weeks, I was breathing better, sleeping better, regained my sense of taste and smell, and just generally felt a lot better. Three years later, feeling as good as ever.

Thanked: 220Anyone here quit smoking successfully?
I agree with the "cold turkey" philosophy. I used Nicorette Quick Mist once, and although it worked while I was on it, I ended up getting addicted to the Quick Mist! I believe the faster you rid your body of the nicotine, the better. I commend anyone who has successfully quit, smoking anything is a nasty thing to do to yourself.

Anything but cold turkey and willpower is just replacing one habit with another. I quit cold turkey and lost 45 pounds oddly enough....
Nicotene leaves your system relatively fast, its just the habit of holding one in your mouth that is hard to get away from, like a baby and its pacifier...

Chantix all day man! That and sunflower seeds. Just be sure to closely monitor any mood changes. It's a wonder drug for sure.
Razor rich, but money poor. I should have diversified into Eschers!

I smoked for 20 years or so, but never more than 5 cigs a day except when partying where I smoked a pack or more. I quit cold turkey 7 years ago and have no desire to ever smoke again. I smoke cigars now but no more than 2 per month and no inhaling

Agreed - you're essentially detoxed of the nicotine in 72 hours. After that, it's just default behavior. I know that, have known that for years, yet still can't quite kick it. Down to about 7-10 a day, but haven't made the leap yet. That's one habit I mean to kick before I hit my 51st birthday, if I'd like to have many more after that....it's a tough one.

My dad did back in 2003 , he was a 3 pack a day on Benson & Hedges menthols .
Mind you I think it was the heart attack that did it . He passed away day before his birthday - he was 56 . Sorry if that was morbid humour , but my dad would have laughed .
I never took it up , but do enjoy a cigar now and then .
Good luck .
CheersMirthing my way through life .
