I've finally finished reading through this thread. Glens early post with the letter in it has prompted me to change my signature.

Race issues aside, the bottom line in this thread is that three pieces of filth brutally and savagely took the life of an innocent person for no justifiable reason.

    There is no excusing that.

There isn't enough punishment in the world for that.

There's not enough love, or tough love, or faith, or morals, or environment, or upbringing, or punishment that could, in absolution, prevent it from happening.

Sure, those things could steer a person one way or the next to a degree, but ultimately, THAT PERSON AND NO ONE ELSE makes the choice to commit such an atrocity.

I can agree with points that everyone has brought up in this thread. EMC45's swift justice. Carl's disposition that the moral fiber of our species at large needs a tune up. I could go on.

However, when it comes down to brass tacks, all the yelling, screaming, crying, hemming and hawing, suggesting, ranting and deliberating in the world on any side of this argument is worthless if three young monsters make their own choice to slaughter an innocent person.

They probably didn't have enough fiber in their diet.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

You cant blame violent video games for this either...When I was young...I watched Popeye beat the snot out of Brutus on a Dailey basis, watched Bonanza, The Wild,Wild, West ,Rawhide..shooting and killing Indians, Rat Patrol, Combat...saw people smoking cigarettes on the Ed Sullivan show at a young age.....I didn't feel the need to beat up or kill someone...some people are just rotten

I treat people as I would want to be treated, I more than care,,,,maybe sometimes I care too much. I raise my son to be a "responsible & accountable" individual, kind to all who bring good will; to always be watchful of the type of Evil, that we are talking about in this killing.

There is no understanding, love or empathy to be given to these 3 animals; only a swift & final conclusion to their lives.
Sorry, no, you're right, and I think you have judged me right and I appreciate that comment. What I mean is that perceive that a lot of people treat others horribly and without care and love and kindness, and that sort of breeds and becomes 'normal'. Having said that, you're right, evil will still exist, but maybe at least the way you and I bring up our kids will shape their lives and they may shape others' lives.

Have I explained that better? :-)

You don't need to explain anything to me Carl, we both follow the same path.

Well said, brother, let's get back on to the subject of the original post about looking after each other and less about trying to work out why people do bad things.

We won't solve that and we won't work it out.

All we can do is pat each other on the back, have a virtual beer together and say "I love you mate"...

And that's how I took the message of the original post, and now it's gone all haywire...
