I'll say, this part of your post is spot on (except for the bit about it being a Democracy). Too many who have the power to stop the things they dislike in government don't even try to change it. Though, it's also tough to do when your elected official votes the opposite direction from the majority.

Thanked: 177Its like a menu, you want steak but theres only chicken and fish. Thats the voting system. I may like fish better than chicken but I cant pick the steak cuz it isnt on the menu. .

Thanked: 1160I'm gonna agree with that. It's too easy to say all you gotta do is vote and participate. For those of us who do vote, I would say there is a feeling of frustration about that being seemingly ineffective and futile anymore but that's just this one mans opinion. Not too mention ya read anymore about people being targeted when they speak up or against , so again the frustration and futility sets in.

Thanked: 3228This to me is the only thing that makes any sense in the whole democracy vs republic debate. It is that way in almost all multi party systems of government.
You can't always get what you want so go for the closest fit. The other choices are having no choice at all or total chaos of having all independents.

Everybody gets some, but nobody does get it all. Even those in the minority (opposition) . No matter if you're pro government or opposition parties. Even government coalition cannot take the role of the dictator.
The question if it's better or worse is of course up to everyone's opinion. I like the multi party system. Just securing no party would ever grow too strong to be the sole king of the hill. Too many sad examples in history and present.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
