Thanked: 13249The Arab League at an emergency meeting in Cairo Sunday called on the United Nations and the international community to take "deterrent" measures under international law to stop the Syrian regime's crimes, but could not agree on whether to back U.S. military action.
Arab foreign ministers at the meeting in their closing statement held the Assad regime responsible for the "heinous" chemical attack, saying the perpetrators should be tried before an international court "like other war criminals."
Well go arrest them, don't let the West stand in your way

Why? Power and Prestige. A hand in the pie. Or just because Al Qaeda might have pulled the wool over your eyes, organised the attack to try and bring in "the big stick" to work knowingly, or unknowingly, to their agenda. There are multiple possibilities. Maybe Israel is going for a land grab and the US are backing them with a False Flag operation, being mates and all, you back each others play surely?!
Why should you help anyone? Well, historically the US never has helped anyone, unless there has been something to gain from it for themselves. And I certainly don't think the 'help' being discussed here is what is required. More proof before laying down the blame and raining down the smart bombs is what is needed I think. That darn stick again!!
No you are not "...just a mongrel dog on a chain..." I said (or meant), rightly or wrongly the US can act that way. And from an outsiders point of view the US acts that way because the US feels the rest of the world expects them to. Personally, I'm a bit over it myself, but I can't speak for the rest of the world. I don't see an upside to any of this either, and that is another reason why I would like to see the US., Brits and Froggies sit back and catch their breath for a bit...All the pulling on the chain must be choking them by now surely.
Understand, that I am not against action, indeed the man (Assad) should have been tried long before now for criminal acts, but they need to be acts that he is guilty of, and for that proof is what is needed. But more proof than what was had against Suddam Hussien...Where did those durn WMD's end up anyway?!...

Thanked: 485Yeah, that's my stance really.
Heard today that 1500 were killed in the chemical attack, but many, many thousands were killed previous to this. Is this a 'now look, that's going too far to use chemicals, we don't like chemicals. Nuclear weapons, sure, bombs, bullets, agent orange, whatever, but NO chemicals'.
Maybe it's a 'green' natural agenda in regards to war???
I seriously fail to see how bombing the place from 50 million feet can help.
A 'no boots on the ground' policy might protect initially, but does America REALLY want even more people putting THEIR boots on YOUR ground, complete with bombs strapped to them, etc etc? I just think it's going to increase terrorism attacks on every country that gets involved and results also in more civilian deaths.
Just walk away. Just walk away.Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Saw this the other day- there is some wisdom in it. IMO - Syria is a lose / lose scenario, let them clean up their own backyard. There are better use of US dollars.
