And this is where it begins. Bill your message is certainly full of pessimism but you have more hope than you credit yourself for having. The shear fact that you write what you write tells me you hope! Period. I believe there is men the caliber of previous generations however they need to awake. They need is a Catalyst. I could be you. We have in our hands one of the most powerful communications tools available to the private sector. Start a dialog but also organize a concerted effort on behalf of change. The opposition to change certainly uses it to their benefit. Keep the sleeping masses sleeping. Status Quo is their mantra. In case someone doesn't recognize the status quo ....... you're living it. Do something about it.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Thanked: 13249Google this phrase
Obama if congress doesn't act I will
You will find tons of hits, from the Great Divider in Chief... Everything you can imagine he has said He will bypass Congress and He will make the decision.. Including this decision that he said He would make the decision with these words "I have directed MY MILITARY" again his ego leading rather then his reason...
BUT
When it counts, when he drew the RED LINE, then all of a sudden this Wimp in Chief says Whoa Nelly I might be looking bad here, the polls are coming in and I ain't looking good.

Thanked: 1185I could see where this discussion could quickly become like another banned one. I read some things and bite my finger to keep from typing. I could go on and on about how this guy did that and that guy is ha ha a numbskull. And Bren your right about we have the power and the tools but what is missing ? A leader. A point of focus that the majority of minorities can agree on. I have ideas but then I am in no position to make myself a target right now. Maybe in a year or 2 I will have nothing to loose and then I may be apt to start something. I don't have to lead it but I could get something going that could not be hijacked by the media or a political party. It may sound like a delusion of grandeur but how many times in our history has 1 man made a big impact ? If not me then maybe you or him or a gathering of like minds. It will take somebody to stand on a soap box so people can gather and join in. It will take great thought to start and focus many. Impossible ? NOT ! And there are many brave and not so brave that would love to see a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

Thanked: 603As Bob Dylan sang, "Don't follow leaders (watch your parking meters)".
But seriously, I don't believe we need leaders; what we do need are principles and working together for the common good. Although not a "friend of Bill", I appreciate the AA credo of "putting principles before personalities." We are -- individually, and as a Nation -- consumed with personalities... with celebrity: athletes, entertainers, the wealthy, and all the rest. Mao Tse-Tung warned about and fought against the "Cult of Personality." We must do so, too.
Not everyone can afford a custom straight razor; and, without proper technique, even one that passes the HHT won't give a BBS. So too, politicians and others in-power: not all of 'em are the "sharpest knives in the drawer." At best, they're tools; let's learn how to use 'em to our advantage. You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

A moderate view of she actually said
Sarah Palin On Syria | The Moderate Voice
SoS John Kerry's exact words yesterday,,, Something about exactly the way he worded this made me start to look deeper..
"Blood and hair samples from eastern Damascus, Syria, have "tested positive for signatures of sarin gas" , Secretary of State John Kerry
What exact does that mean
Where did we get these samples
Who gave them to us
and why the very careful wording??? That word "Signature" sets my neck hairs on edge, why not "Evidence" of Sarin Gas see my brain just went to thinking that those signature compounds might be more common then actual "Sarin Gas"
Not that I don't trust Kerry (see Swiftboat & Throws away Medals) not to lie,Last edited by gssixgun; 09-03-2013 at 12:53 AM.

Thanked: 3228It does seem like no matter what you want to label the type of political system most of us live under the majority seem dissatisfied with or indifferent to theirs. The reasons all seem to similar too no matter which side of center you lean.

Thanked: 1587I have not been following this story or this thread, so please forgive me if I don't know details.
Getting involved in other countries is always fraught with difficulty, as history has shown. I really feel for the US in these situations because, rightly or wrongly, the world looks to them in these kinds of circumstances to at least take the lead.
I think a bigger question than arguing over the evidence or lack thereof of genocide in Syria is why do we all expect the US to go in swinging? Historical precedent? Wanting them to take the fallout?
It would be nice if the rest of the world stopped hiding behind our US cousin's skirts and stepped up if they are really bothered about something. It would send a message that there are some things the entire world think are unacceptable. If we want a better world I think we need to send a united message.
If we are not prepared to do that, then perhaps we really don't care all that much that a government is prepared to kill its own citizens. And if that's the case, then perhaps we deserve the world we've allowed to develop.
