    John,
when all else fails and if it were me, I would simply ask one of the specialists in the AC section at Home Depot.
Bring that picture with you also .
There has got to be somebody there who would know a little something at least about something like this.

Are you sure it is leaking? If the trap is cold it could be condensing water from the air in the room.

I did not think of this, but the drops form around the seams of the joints,,

If the trap is to short and allowing the cold air to push out then the pipe would be cold. If then water was condensing on the outside of the pipe it could go down the pipe and gather at the seem making it appear that the seam itself was leaking.

Not that I am saying to do it but in that low pressure operation you should be able to push the pipe together without glue and it shouldn't leak.

He never glued it the first time, he just pushed it together. When it sits for a while , it does not drop, but if the AC has been running for a while, you start to see action around the seams,,,,, I think your right about the cold situation

I would have thought that if that were designed as a trap it would be removable so that as and when it got blocked you could clean it out.
If you were to just put a straight elbow in then that would eliminate the pooling water from the equation, if you were really keen you could use 2, 45 degree bends with a joiner in the middle to make sure that all of the flow is down hill.
If condensation is the issue I think that all you need to do is lag the pipe and that should create a barrier to stop the heat transfer, even bubble wrap taped on would probably work
