unknown consequences
I have practiced carving walking sticks.
I am no professional and give them away. Fun to sit around the campfire and give them to someone there.
I gave one to a friend of my wife's and her husband had a stroke. He doesn't want to use a cane but the stick makes him happy.
It is fun to get feedback and it brings up that many things in our life that we might feel are not important effect others!

Here is a very interesting article I read about the Leatherman Tool start, by Tim Leatherman. The idea came to him while watch men fix bicycles on the street corners in Saigon.

Thanked: 3795Well, now I finally know why that tool has its name despite being pretty much useless for leather-working.

That's funny.
And Richard, astute observation on the tools evolution. The Schrade brands and the like perhaps forced Leathermans evolution ergonomically.
Their original models, like in 32t's picture, were very thin walled and bit into the hand when gripping with the pliers tightly. Also their blades used to be only accessible from the inside as opposed to their latest iterations like the Surge and Charge with one hand deployable blades accessed from the closed, or outside handle configuration. Much improved..
Been a fan since Tim introduced theses to the market in the 80s.
Gives me an excuse to most often wear a belt, just to hold my leatherman.
