I hope this link works as it's kind of fun to see how different words are popularly pronounced or even know around the states.

Speaking of Ad 'Blockers' I play solitaire online and there are Ads, but I can click on a button to make them go away but I usually don't bother. Yesterday this popped up and I found it very humorous!

If whoever paid for the space sees it they are probably at their desk like this--

Here's a screen shot of what I saw--see the 'Ad' at the far right?

Default What is the World Coming To??

All I will say is #1 when I started in the retail Grocery Business at the age of 20 years old the man who took me under his wing had started with a chain store called Safeway in 1934. He became a Meat Manager and then a Store Manager and in 1949 opened his own store and he told me that it took three things to have a successful store.

Quality Product--'Reasonable' Prices and Excellent Customer Service

Over 40 years later I've never found him wrong.

If this is the future then I do hope that I'm long dead and buried before I ever see it.

I hope this link continues to work for years and years.

I won't be using the place, no cashier means no job for somebody, and yet the big boy at the top gets fatter. On the rare occasion I do end up in walmart I will stand in line for a cashier. If those lines are too long I will set the stuff down or simply walk away from the cart. Then someone will get paid to put the stuff up. Customer service, it may be old fashioned but it will still work.

Thank you my friend! I won't even use the 'self checkouts' that's been around for years either.

Years ago I was working out of town putting a new Safeway Store together in Lewiston ID and caught my shoe on a pallet and ripped the heel loose. So I used some ducktape to hold it together until lunch. When lunchtime came around I drove down the street to a Kmart and picked up another cheapo set of shoes.

However there was only One REAL checkstand open and there were 4-5 people ahead of me. There were 3 Self Checkouts with no one in them and a woman who supervised them said; "Sir, the self checkouts are open" and I replied 'All those damn things do is take a wage away from someone trying to feed a family! I'll stand here in this line if it takes me all day"! She then walked to one of the self checkouts and said: "Sir I'll check you out here". I walked overand put my purchase on the checkstand and said:

"Why the hell didn't you just open up a checkstand to begin with"!?!?

I don't think she liked me.

I am sure that it would be hard to feed a family with working even 2 jobs at a check out......

My friend: I'd said someone 'Trying' to feed a family.

'All those damn things do is take a wage away from someone trying to feed a family!

When I started with Safeway in 1979 I'd been making $3.11 per hour which included my overtime (I"d figured that by dividing the number of hours I'd worked by my gross pay). I was started at one notch under Journeyman at $6.70 or so. So I was making more than double of Washington State's Minimum wage.

When I retired after 36 years, 7 months and 6 weeks I was making $15.50 per hour and minimum wage was $10.00 per hour. Go figure! Flog your ass for all those years and some young buck walks in and is making $5.50 less.

Right now Idaho's minimum wage is the same as the Federal at $7.25 an hour but Washington's is $11.60 and until it's raised again will top out at $13.50 in a couple of years.
