I'm probably the youngest one to post so far.(24)

I have to say that I'm most worried for my generation and the following generation. When you look at those most greatly impacted by the shape the world is taking on is us. And to be honest we are the least politically motivated group of Americans. We are pigheaded and are lead around by whatever is on the internet or our cellphones.

If you think society is tough now what will it be when the youth at gray haired and leading the world. Its sad. We try and educate. Try to create open mindedness. But the simple fact is we(my generation) are largely media driven. Not saying that others are not. But when you take into account what we are fed through the media and interwebs now compared to even 10 years ago its not good.

I agree whole heartedly with equality. But in that same line of thought its not OK to have your own standards or morals.

Gay marriage, legalized marijuana, anti gun laws(Cali), tattoos and body modification, abortions etc. Are now not just OK but encouraged. And to disagree is to discriminate. I personally am not for the majority of it but I fault no one for the decisions they make with their life. But I stand true to what I believe and that's not OK.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone as this is not my Intent but I would prefer a world void of homosexuality, drugs and body modification. When I have kids I will teach them what is right and wrong according to what I believe. But I will also teach tolerance. God help anyone who comes between me and my family and what we believe. Do what you will but don't take away what I want MY WORLD(the things which are within my control to be).

With that said I love each and everyone of you guys.

    Why?

Because not one person is worthy of hate.

Maybe I'm a mixed bag of nuts. I dunno. Just seems like there could be a world where we can all practice what we believe without forcing it on anyone else.

But see I appreciate that about you. I don't want everyone on the same page I want everyone to fight for their right to believe in what they choose to.

Y'know working in street tattoo shops the past 20+ years, and being exposed to the youth raised since the '80s, I used to think that they, as my old man might have said, 'ain't worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell.' But after 9-11, when we went to war, they proved themselves to be every bit as stalwart as any previous generation. IMHO.

As far as what the future holds, when I was in my early teens men who were in their 50s, 60s would say, "Boy, I wish I was your age and knew what I know now." At 65 I'm glad I'm on the downhill side of the journey. Not saying I don't like my life, I made my bed and I'm laying in it. But the Book tells me that things will grow worse and worse, and I think that is an accurate assessment.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The world is in flux and it has been since the first pre humans existed. There have always been periods when war and hate have swept the known world and there have been periods when universal (well almost) peace has reigned. These are cycles and they will always be with us.

People always pine for the past and the good old days and though some good old things were good remember you have to take the good with the bad. For those of us who are getting long in tooth Just think of all the relatives and friends who died back in the 40s and 50s who might have lived many years longer or who might still be around if science and medicine and general safety had been where they are today. Maybe the 1800s were neat times but how many folks survived childhood or died in their 30s or 40s back then?

With each generation the old have reservations about the next generation and things do change. I remember going to the Worlds Fair in NYC in 1964 and I remember all the wonderful exhibits and predictions for the future and how our world would be better and different. You know what? They got it all wrong. Few of the things they predicted for even 20 years later ever happened let alone 50 years later. Even with all the advances folks lives are pretty much the same as they were in the 1950s when you look at the basics.

In the end we're like surfing a timeline and eventually we run out of surf and the next folks come in on the next wave and it just keeps going on and on. No use pining for what will never happen. it's better to try to improve the deck of cards you've been dealt now.

Down the road History will judge us as it judges our entire civilization.

I agree our time was not perfect ,, only heaven or whatever you believe is supposedly perfect ,, but you can not tell me its better now than then,, even if we didn't live as long , but whos to say that's all great,

Ncraig I'm hoping you mean fight when our freedoms are threatened and not a constant fight.

Here is a funny video for people arguing for when it was "better" back then. Be prepared for some profanity though sorry.

I think the world needs to stop and think of where we are heading in the future, by the decisions we make today. Right now some thing is wrong when a society hugs trees, and kill babies. IMO
