Thanked: 13247Simply put either extreme is bad for everything
No Trophy hunting is bad
Un-Restricted hunting is bad
Getting the Balance right between these things without the intrusion of unwitting # activism is probably the best chance of survival of these species...
Just to be very clear, man's encroachment by Farming and Urbanization is far more damaging to wild animals then Legal Hunting will ever be on this planet...
But you rarely see "Save the Animals No Farming let the people starve" as a # on social media, well not yet anyway

Thanked: 3228He may have had a tag and a guide but the circumstances around the kill were/are iffy. When the wife of a virtual dictator steps in to smooth the situation out I really see red flags popping up. Along the lines of "if it wasn't exactly legal we will make it so". Anyway I still have my doubts.

While not the exact same thing; years ago our state passed the Right To Farm Laws as the urban people moved to the country to enjoy the more laid back environment however the farmers made dust and noise and sprayed their crops and that wasn't acceptable to the former urbanites and there were lawsuits. So the RTF laws were passed to protect the farmers who feed us.
However those laws are on occasion under assault.
Several years ago there was a TV program from a city about 60 miles away and the people had built on the very extreme edge of the city and they were up in arms as they said that the coyotes were eating their pets!
Sorry, but the Coyotes were there first and they need to eat!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
