I am afraid of any mushroom not acquired from a grocery store. Even when I'm out on the farm, I give all the morels to my brother--not because I'm trying to kill him, but because he really likes them and I feel entirely "meh" about them. I had no idea puffballs were edible. I've simply enjoyed stomping on them for decades!

This is one that I found near my house. It was hitting the end of its age. I have been told that if they get dark in the center they will turn psychedelic. I have never tried darker than this to find out!

I don't know if it fits exactly into this thread but every time I see the cutting board under the mushroom I think about my Uncle Harvey. I inherited it from my grandmother who he gave it to. It is used and abused and many of you might laugh at it. But the family story goes that he was wondering how the flatten the black walnut burl that it is made of and his solution was to stand on it and hang on to his buddies bumper as he got pulled across the bridge.

If you had known my Uncle you would believe this story!

P.S. It was a cement bridge!

Defrosting the freezer getting ready for fall.

It is getting pretty low. For dinner we had a combination of venison and tomato's for supper.

I keep all the possession tags in the freezer with the meat in case there is any question by the game warden. I didn't toss them but decided it was time to clean them out and put them in my drawer.

Since I last decided to do this.Name: reg.jpg
