There have been signs all over the highways stating that traffic will get very bad from Friday to Tuesday as the folks come to look from our area. Not looking forward to it. Guessing I wont be able to miss it one way or another.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

I wouldn't want to be driving anywhere during the eclipse-I predict thousands of accidents from idiots looking up instead of at their phones.

I saw where someone asked God for a sign that Trump was doing all the right things... like black the sun out for a few minutes or something

For the life of me I can't see what the big deal is--I saw a partial eclipse when I was in Jr. High. Dad had me view it through a set of his welding goggles.

Sorry but it wasn't very impressive even to a young boy so I just don't 'get it'.

    Oh Well.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as far as not feeling it's that big of a deal, but my mother was more protective than your dad. We saw it get dark outside but we had to stay inside the house and watch the nearly full eclipse on our black and white TV. And of course, we never were allowed to sit closer than 10 feet from the TV to protect our eyes!

Oh, and someday I'd like to start a sentence with "When I recently returned from my 3500 mile ride on my Harley…"

I've seen a couple partial eclipses, yeah not too big of a deal. I've not yet seen a total eclipse. The difference between 98% and total is said to be phenomenal.

Ron, since your a man of science, is it true you cannot look at the sky during the eclipse? Or is that an old wive's tell?

I'm not familiar with that one. I cannot imagine why you cannot look at the sky. You just cannot look at the sun, eclipsed or not.

I live right in the middle of the path here, but I have to go to school that week for work. My sons are excited about it. And they plan on wearing my welding helmets. My daughters are looking at the three of us like we're idiots for wanting to watch. But I'm sure that they will both change their minds once it starts. Maybe I'll get lucky and I'll get out of class early on Monday, and be able to watch. I have seen notices that MoDOT will be closing some highways for it. Now that's going to suck for my drive home from class. But I'll put a welding helmet in the car just in case.
