I can't speak for the US, but in the UK, roughly 3,000 people die each year in road traffic accidents, a large proportion of which are pedestrians.
In the last month, around 14,000 UK deaths have been confirmed as being directly caused by coronavirus.
I guess, even for those that struggle with math, it's possible to detect a difference in the magnitude of the risk.

In the US the average is about 38k auto accident deaths a year.
I 100% agree math can really help make sense of things. For example, in my state, with the #'s available now I have a .00002% chance of dying.
I just don't see it as something that

It's just a difference of perspective.

No it's not a difference of perspective. The testing program in the U.S is almost worthless. We have no clue how many are truly infected. I've seen estimates of 10x the number being put out everyday and the number of dead is being undercounted too.

One of the major hospitals in NYC started testing women coming in for prenatal exams. None had any symptoms or complaints and it was found around 13% were infected and had no symptoms but they could sure spread it.

You know the old saying about not being able to make a proper decision without the facts upon which to base it. It just becomes a fool's errand.

All those who just ignore current policy and want to open things up? Well how much is a human life worth anyway? Cash on the barrel head is their concern I guess. Expendability I guess is the thing. Once we sacrifice folks for economics it will be easy to sacrifice them for other reasons too.

I don't think you're in a position to say my perspective is wrong.. is it different from your, yes, but it doesn't make it wrong. Much the same as I'm not in a position to say your point of view is wrong

As to the people "who just want to ignore current policy and want to open things up"
I don't think it has anything to do with "cash on the barrel head" or "Expendabililty".. That would make sense if the protesters were a bunch of white collar Exec.. but from what I've seen it's small business, mom and pop shops, sole proprietorship asking for the chance to survive.

Like I've said before our perspectives are different and that's OK.
