Last night I really wanted to call the police on the party next door. I was waiting for it to get out of control or loud after hours but it didn't. The wife said to call because they shouldn't be having a gathering like that. I explained to her that the rules of distancing are a recommendation, not a law. Nothing we could do. The bad part is they have a young son about the same age as my granddaughter that lives with us. He and her ride bikes together. THAT will now have to stop because we have no idea of who the young man has been around. At least for the next week. It's not an easy thing to explain to the young.

I work in healthcare and see people who really should know better doing bone-headed things. (Wearing potentially contaminated PPE into a “clean” area, for instance.) Mostly people are making too many important decisions clouded by fear, ignorance, and fatigue. There is also a fair amount of fatalism- “We’re all going to catch this, why does it matter when?”

Well, if I’m going to catch it, I hope it’s later when they have effective treatments.

The fatalism thing can be real and it can lead to serious depression. I read a news report of a couple who were ill and thought they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Certain that they would suffer and die from the illness, the husband shot his wife and then shot himself. When an autopsy was conducted on the bodies, both tested negative for the disease. That is what you call a serious over-reaction.

A lot of people seem to not realize that part of the reason we haven't had 10X more fatalities is BECAUSE we are trying to slow the spread of the virus. The media has done plenty of exaggerating and fear mongering, but that doesn't mean people should just dismiss it completely.
On another forum there are some guys that keep posting annual suicide/cancer/heart disease/flu/car collision fatality rates and talking about how many more people have died from the flu.

I'm hopeful more effective treatments will be available soon.

I had one guy compare it to traffic deaths. Said "they haven't shut down the highways so its no big deal". Another Idiot!

Traffic deaths are what society deems acceptable casualties for having the transportation system they feel is necessary. Covid 19 is in no way a necessity for any society to have to deal with.

If you know any older people that are in care facilities or at home . There are many scams out there

The one I am most concerned about is the letters delivered by FedEx purportedly a check to be deposited.
When it bounces, it goes back to the sender to skim the account information .
Confirmed by local county sheriff's department.
    Pass it along, please.

There are some good websites dealing with Coronavirus scams and other criminal activities:
    1. US DOJ: https://www.justice.gov/coronavirus
    2. FBI: https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/pr...id-19-pandemic
    3. ENISA: https://www.enisa.europa.eu/news/exe...rking-remotely

It is despicable that human beings, and I use that term sparingly, would take this opportunity to prey upon the weak, ill informed and vulnerable.
Even more disconcerting is the lack of transparency from the Chinese government regarding how infectious the virus is.
There is no doubt they tried to cover it up, just don't understand why.
It is bad now, but when it gets to the poorer countries like Yemen and Ethiopia with little or no health care let alone enough water to wash their hands.
There are many out there with the monetary capacity to make a difference, I doubt they will...

If each traffic accident caused two more with the number of accidents doubling every week, you can be damn sure that we would be limiting driving.
