You don't drive rush hour where I do.

Behind every accident that stops/slows traffic there are a minimum of 2 behind it!

I was hiking on a 10' wide trail wearing a mask with two people coming towards me not wearing masks. I step to the edge of the trail, and they walk through IN THE CENTER OF THE TRAIL!!!

    'Covidiots', I like it.

I really wonder about that considering the response to Covid 19 in some cases.

As a thought experiment, let’s consider the perspectives of some different individuals:

12 year old. Not going to school (Yay) missing sports (Booo). Unlikely to experience serious symptoms even if infected. Bored. Bored. Bored.

24 Year old. No bar hopping or dating. Previously lived paycheck to paycheck but is now out of work. Unlikely to require hospitalization if infected. This is, like, so lame, man.

38 Year old: When are the &*$#@@^* kids going back to school?

62 year old. Not yet retired but has nest egg and is doing okay for now. At risk for serious complications and death if infected. Has comfortable recliner. Keep her locked down for as long as it takes.

For most Americans, COVID-19 is something that is happening to other people and the risks are at best theoretical. But lockdown and no income are very real…

Stay at home in a secluded area only going into town for Essential shopping... What Changed ???

Okay, that was half-joking I know what changed The wife has been here with me for 22 DAYS !!!!! OMG stop this insanity now

    Half joking again

Seriously we have had practice at the social distancing thing since 4/1/2002 when we moved here, so really very little has changed for us, if it had happened in 2009 or 2010 when I was working at the office full time it might have been different...

Oh wait, there was a dangerous outbreak in 2009 oddly I barely remember that and it was pretty bad I think
(60.8 million cases, 274,304 hospitalizations, and 12,469 deaths occurred in the United States due to pH1N1)
Huh, I wonder why that wasn't in the media as much...

2009 wasn't so much reported because it was very much like seasonal flu killing mostly elderly sick folks and those with highly compromised immune systems. Those hospitalized weren't on ventilators like now and weren't as sick (for the most part) and it wasn't as virulent as this thing is. Then hospital staff were not dropping like flies nor were police and fire forces and emts.

This bug is hitting all age groups and killing all age groups. Many are dying of cardiac arrest probably caused by it however I don't think those are being counted in the overall numbers.

The 2009 H1N1 numbers are for 12 months. USA is up to 17,000+ Covid 19 deaths in just over a month and still climbing. Something tells me that we're going to remember this one.

Yes, the H1N1 deaths have been eclipsed by Covid 19 in an extremely short time. No wonder the media doesn't mention H1N1 deaths as they are irrelevant for comparison purposes.
