Thanked: 3223You can't convince some people to follow the basic precautions before being vaccinated or even get vaccinated in the first place. Convincing people to carry on with the basic precautions after being vaccinated will, I think, be even more difficult in the rush back to the old normal.

I live in Kingsville Ontario, between Windsor and Leamington.
My wife had her first shot of Moderna last week at our Health Center, I get mine on the 19th April, also Moderna.
To be honest I'm not happy about getting the vaccine at all because I don't think they have been tested for long enough and I don't want to become a zombie but I got nagged into it by she who shall not be named (I also cry when I get a needle).
The second doses are 16 weeks after the first.- - Steve

Thanked: 3223All the approved Covid 19 vaccines have gone through phase I, II and III testing before approval. The government shortened the approval time by reviewing each phase as it was done instead of waiting for all three phases to be completed before reviewing the lot. At the same timer they inspected and approved the manufacturing facilities instead of waiting for all three phases to be completed and approved before inspecting the manufacturing facilities. This shortened the time needed for approval considerably.
They keep reviewing data on the vaccines as more becomes available after approval as is the usual practice. That is why they put restrictions on who can get the AZ vaccine after the data on a "possible" link to a very rare type of blood clotting was suspected. The system is working as it should and is not an indicator that the system was/is short circuited.
Personally, I don't think there is much to worry about. Still waiting for my first jab on April 22.

Thanked: 556I had my first Pfizer vaccination last Wednesday. The only side effect was a slight ache at the injection location for a couple of days and a genuine feeling of relief. Second jab is scheduled for July.

I copied this from from our district news letter
Paradoxically, residents who live in ZIP code 55108 – which includes the Fairgrounds and neighborhoods next to it – are not eligible through this vaccine program. That’s because this vaccine supply, which comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is focused on communities that have a high social vulnerability index. The index is one way the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is identifying traditionally underserved residents.
I live about a mile from the fairgrounds and so my zip code is eligible.

I think it must be something to do with the way school has changed.
I have noticed that older guys can run rings around most youngsters when it comes to basic mental arithmetic. Of course I'm not suggeting younger people are thick by any means.
When I was at school, calculators where frowned on by the teachers and they were certainly not allowed into exams, we had to show our working out.
My kids reach for a the calculator app on their phones if they are asked 12x12! (it's 168 obviously ), not because they are thick but because that is how it these days.- - Steve
