You are correct! Us Yanks pushed the button on that one. Everyone is talking about war crimes against Russia. I believe someone else is guilty of atrocities that were far more horrific. Were they held accountable? The argument is that it saved thousands of lives..... Really?Quote:

You are talking about a time of a World War and action against an attacker.
Did Japan commit atrocities against many peoples as well as Germany. Sure some were captured and tried but most escaped and lived a very comfortable life.
You could talk about our use of nukes on Japan all you want and debate options and truth and lies. There are countless books about it.
The bottom line is it stopped the war immediately after the second bomb. Also don't forget the bombs dropped on Japan are like firecrackers compared to the ones they have now.
Of course it stopped the war, thousands of Japanese were dead or dying, and as we're castigating Russia for shelling civilians, remember who the two bombs were dropped on. Obviously they didn't want to risk a third bomb, who would. The Germans were beaten without Nukes and no doubt the Japanese would have been too, or maybe they would have won, who knows.Quote:

Who said anything about fairness? You can slice it and dice however you want, make it look good according to however you want. It is and was one of the greatest atrocities in human history. The bombs destroyed innocent civilians, not military targets. Who was held accountable for that? No One! You can say what you like but I think it was the wrong decision to annihilate innocent people.Quote:

Is anyone upset about the outcome of WW2? Because the goal imo should be victory. If we were kindler and gentler to the enemy and lost the war would that have been better? If anyone thinks the axis would not have LOVED to drop the big one on NYC or DC among many other major cities then you need to think about that. Let's start with Manchuria in 1931. That some regard as the official start of WW2. I don't want to argue that point. 1 million civilians + and peasants killed raped executed. Shot like dogs. We should have killed them with kindness. Lol. Maybe a box of chocolate and diplomacy would have won the war. I don't think so. I'm glad they dropped that bugger. Twice. I am glad I don't have to make.decisions regarding many peoples lives. But I'm glad they did having said that where do you start the mourning process? Some estimate 80 million dead as total dead including civilians. I don't know how accurate that would be but we can say many many millions died.
