Every time an individual is charged with a crime the D/A makes the decision if and how to prosecute. Case law is replete with novel approaches. The fact Trump's prosecution took the turn it did is only material to those looking for a reason to trash the whole thing like you are doing. The salient facts and the ONLY ones that matter are he was indicted by a grand jury and convicted by a jury of his peers. There were numerous places along the way for the whole thing being rejected or thrown out or he be adjudged innocent. That did not happen.
