We recently have management backing us up well with limiting the temperatues in the operating rooms to 68'f. This also has much to do with humidity in the room but the average person does not understand.
I get calls all the time that say that I have my thermostat set at 50'f but my room is only 68'f.
I am the thermostat God! LOL

Senior Day at Churchill Downs last Friday. Sorry this is late, just saw the thread.
Seniors 60 and older can buy tickets to "Millonaire's Row" clubhouse for a buffet lunch and a day of live racing. It's actually quite nice. Many seniors dress up in Derby Attire for this special venue. It happens monthly - I think. And it's only $27 per person. I think that's a bargain with a quality buffet that is open from noon - 2:30 PM. Soft drinks, coffee and ice tea included. Plus a full day of iive racing at the track with an excellent view from Millionaire's Row.
The only complaint I have is that I rented a limo to take me and SWMBO to and from out hotel so we could be dropped off at the door. But alas, Churchill gives limos no priority and directed us to long term parking. I think this is a bit absurd, but then we were the only people there with a limo. I don't think they see this very often.
My favorite part is always walking down to the paddock and seeing the horses up close with the jockeys. Great way to kick off the weekend. Anyone within striking distance of Louisville, and 60 years or older should consider going to this special senior racing venue.

I get that. Most Americans have put Thoroughbred Horse Racing in the same catagory as Jazz. Something that "Has Been". Hores racing is a fading sport for sure, other than the Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont (Triple Crown). Me? I love Thoroughbred Horse Racing AND Jazz, so I really am old school.
The one thing I will say, if you ever go to a thoroughbred track, and can stand on the rail of the track near the finish line, you may be surprised. When you have a dozen 1,000 lb thoroughbreds go by you, 10 feet away, at 45 mph, you may - at least for a moment - be a fan. It's truly breathtaking to witness that kind of power up close. It makes you realize how the horse changed civilization."I get some lather and lather-up, then I get my razor and shave! Zip Zop, see that? My face Is ripped to shreads!"

Having spent time on a farm and interacting with the horseys, when they talk horse sense it's true. They are not dumb animals by any stretch. They are also very particular as to which humans they take a cotton to.

Well after sweltering in my house with temps pushing 90F inside I finally got my A/C replaced today so I'm not gonna do a thing this weekend but appreciate human technology.

Efficient? The hotter it gets the less likely it is to bring the temp down fast but there are other things at play there. How efficient is your house? windows, insulation, sunshine, air leakage?
As the temp goes up these things work against the A/C and can overwhelm it. Humidity doesn't even come into play here.
My old A/C was a 4 ton unit and we have no humidity for practical purposes here. On a day with 100F it just ran continuously on second stage and it still could barely mainyain 76F.
My new unit is a 5 ton and it has no problems maintaining 76F on first stage.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Regarding "Horse Sense";
I think it was W.C. Fields that said, "Horse Sense is that thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on humans."
Priceless.
But this quip aside, you are certainly correct. Horses can sense your character. If you are afraid of them, they sense that. If you are confident, they sense that. If you are confident and firm, but caring, the horse knows this as well, and to me, then he almost senses what you want him to do with the most minor of touches. I have not ridden in many years, but I still remember the basics of horseback riding."I get some lather and lather-up, then I get my razor and shave! Zip Zop, see that? My face Is ripped to shreads!"
