I think it is because they are very different. Circumcision is just removal of some foreskin, it hurts the baby for a short time. The female part isn't at all something like circumsicion, and for instance often includes partial or total removal of the clitoris.
They're really two totally different things.

Not the way it's practiced by ScottS
You could circumcise women the same way, you do it with men, though.
To me it seems to be essentially a cultural/religious anachronism. It may have had health reasons in thousands of years ago, although since it wasn't mass practiced by every culture in the desert, perhaps they were not that critical.

I got both of my boys done. I just didn't want them to have the first time a girl saw their penis to be a horror story for them. That may not have been the way it would have gone down, but I didn't want to take any chances. Imagine if the girl he was with had never seen an uncircumsized penis before and freaked out. That would be, at the very least, confusing and embarassing.

Thanked: 1587Well, this thread "headed south" rather quickly!
Australian fashion was to circumcise through the '70s for hygiene reasons. Lately it's gone out of fashion and most males are left au naturale.
There's even a movement to "reclaim the skin" - circumcised men hanging little weights off the ends of their penises to restretch a foreskin!
