Like most American males born in the '40s-'90s I was circumcised for no apparent reason. Every time I think about it I get really pissed off to tell you the truth. It just seems so horribly presumptuous to remove a part of someone else's body for no other reason than... "because." I'm not a Jew, my parents aren't Jews but evidently they thought my penis would be better off Jewish... go figure. (Nothing against Jews by the way; it's the only pro-circumcision argument that I can think of that makes any sense at all.)

All three of my sons are exactly like God made them and not one of them has ever had any kind of "hygiene" problem or infections or whatever kind of rubbish excuse is given for genital mutilation now days. I very strongly believe that it is wrong to remove a person's healthy body parts without their consent. If my boys grow up and decide that they just cant stand not having a big circular scar where the rest of their wang used to be... well then I suppose that they can go have it removed but I'll leave it up to them.

Thats my over inflated and obnoxious opinion on that matter.

When my boys were born it was the thing to do and I didn't really have much of a choice plus I was young and dumb.
But I urged both sons to really consider not having it done to my grandsons.
However they of course listened about as well as they did when they were teenagers. LOL
That said I am glad they went ahead and did it, it seems having a foreskin increase the chance of a man getting Aids by a significant percentage and I mean from sex with females, thank you very much.

As far as the thread going south I'd like to point out that I established the exact location with the very first post and it's been right there with every subsecuent one. No northern or southern than it started, well perhaps the hanging weights are pulling a bit south...

Yes, this is indeed the only thing I can see as reasonable, but that research is only 3 months old. Of course you can't trust the youngsters, but proper sex ed and condoms, I think, would go much further as AIDS prevention.

    I'm sorry.....WHAT?

I've never heard of that....and can't think of a good reason for that besides...they must have more sex with different women.

I'll not have my children circumsized. I see no reason for it. The "Hygienical part" is just an excuse for not being clean in my opinion. And if you can't do that...you might as well chop the whole thing off.

uncut here, and never had a problem with a girl being put off by it. if I ever have a boy, I'll leave it up to him to decide... which means not doing it when he is far too young to decide.

the fact that people do this to their sons has always pissed me off because you are not allowing the child to decide for themselves how they want to be. would you give your baby a tattoo? what if he didn't like it when he grew up?

if my (hypothetical) son still wants to be cut by the time he's a teenager, I've got no problem with him doing so.

oh, and the hygiene thing is total bullshit, btw. it's like saying you need to cut your eyelids off so you don't get crap stuck in your eyes.

The link between AIDs and circumcision is actually quite interesting. These articles provide interesting reading:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6730261.stm

    http://www.who.int/hiv/topics/malecircumcision/en/

    http://www.who.int/hiv/mediacentre/news68/en/index.html

There was also an article published in the Lancet, but I can't find it.

And for the record, I'm not circumcised.

I would definately not circumsize my kids. I don't feel that there is a need and unless the doctor reccomends it.
