I was into other blades before straight razors, so I'm a knife collector. Going off of the blade obsession, I've recently started wood-carving and enjoy that very much. I also read, write, and listen to music a lot. I really enjoy cooking as well, but that's less of a hobby.

My goal is to turn this into a business as well. I make knives by either the forging or stock removal methods. I enjoy both but prefer forging. The reason I found this website/forum was that I was searching for info on "making" straight razors. Certainly it can't be a lost art. I actually count razors as part of what I call my lifelong love of knives and knifemaking. My grandfather always used a straight razor to shave with and he had a couple really beautiful ones. Unfortunately, I have no idea what ever happened to them when he passed away.

As for my other hobbies, I love hiking and camping (I live 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail), shooting sports, Mountain Man re-enacting, bluegrass music, and doing stuff with my kids. I'm happy to be here and look forward to learning about straight razors.

Welcome to SRP. You might want to also post in member introductions here so you don't get lost in the shuffle. Some great custom razor makers belong to this forum. Robert Williams, Joe Chandler, Josh Earl and Butch Harner. You'll see their work as you peruse the forums. Keep at it and I hope to be shaving with a razor with your name on it one day.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I've been drawing since before I could walk so I do that on a regular basic along with painting (art painting). I have dozens of sketchbooks lying around my house now and my wife is an artist and teacher as well. I may do a still life series on razors and shave set ups. lol

I recently discovered writing and am working on a series of short stories that I want to get published. I also like composing music on my computer (notation program) as well as playing guitar and bass guitar, I took theory in school. I really like chess also and play often and read on the game often.

I also REALLY like astrophysics and would love to take a class on astrobiology.
