Thanked: 1I am letting go of more and more hobbies, and going back to the basic ones.
I still love my computer and it's games. My slotcartrack, my Alfa 33 Imola and Chrysler Neon. But all these lose their appeal lately. Sadly shooting is usually a huge hassle here so skip that.
Am not much of a drinker (but when I do it always is too much ; -) ). E.g. I have a bottle and a bit of 65+ y/o French Cognac, and some wines. If you get it, get it enjoyable I say. Enjoy a smoke every now and then, but then again, it's easy to obtain cigars here (Hajenius anyone?). Am very picky on cigarettes, just my JPS, yes they still do exsist!
Playing pool is a defenite addiction here, have my own 2 Meucci's and proud of them! Ad to that the straight now, just got me a new hat, although people do think it is odd when one wears one here.
Hope to go camping again this year, if not, will be early next.
Guess those are mine in a nutshell,
The little red catdragon is on my nr. 1 spot, but that goes without saying.

Ok, forgot the most important one, English literature pre 1900 if possible. Personla favourite is J. Milton, but we have Byron, Coleridge, Shakespeare to name a few (all are full works, and have 1 copy of a pre 1900 Complete Works by Milton leather bound etc.)Last edited by HoekmanX; 09-12-2005 at 11:27 AM.

Thanked: 0Hello Everyone,
Well, I guess I'm the newbie here - just registered 5 mins. ago! Other hobbies - well, I have several, according to my wife more than I can afford. My main hobby is knifemaking. My goal is to turn this into a business as well. I make knives by either the forging or stock removal methods. I enjoy both but prefer forging. The reason I found this website/forum was that I was searching for info on "making" straight razors. Certainly it can't be a lost art. I actually count razors as part of what I call my lifelong love of knives and knifemaking. My grandfather always used a straight razor to shave with and he had a couple really beautiful ones. Unfortunately, I have no idea what ever happened to them when he passed away.
As for my other hobbies, I love hiking and camping (I live 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail), shooting sports, Mountain Man re-enacting, bluegrass music, and doing stuff with my kids. I'm happy to be here and look forward to learning about straight razors.

Computer building, water cooling them, overclocking and benchmarking them. My HD Ultra Glide. Making whips and floggers and other leather goods. Building stereo amps and headphones. Woodworking. A bit of pc gaming, and travel to Wales. Fishing, handguns and speed shooting. And now, I'm collecting straights and honing them.

Thanked: 3Electronics in general. I've done a few hacks on all sorts of electronics from mp3 players to FM transmitters and some hacks on Windows. Don't think I've ever needed to do any hacks on Linux... I'm an audiophile and videophile, so I have 1 TB of space (will increase) to carry all my high quality video and audio files.
I also like gaming. The SNES is a classic. I also have an xbox, will get a wii and xbox360 sometime.
I do a bit of programming. Right now it's limited to C and Java, but I'll pickup C++ and possibly C# soon. I've also written some macros and am checking out Matlab. For scripting, I've used php.
Exercising in general is great! I try to workout everyday. I'll play pick-up on almost any sport, but I absolutely love racquetball, tennis is pretty good too.
Many years ago I used to play the piano, but dropped it and picked up guitar, but my teacher stopped seeing me, so that pretty much phased out. However I'm trying to pick them both up again.

Well, I'm a little differant than most lol. I don't drink due to being a diabetic. Still not married, nor do I have any kids. I do enjoy a good pipe every now and then, but have had to cut back due to some post-op breathing problems after a bicycle accident.
Pre-accident I also enjoyed camping, which I would love to do again. Rolling around on the ground looking something like a fat walrus trying to put tent stakes in just doesn't cut it.
I am a ham radio operator, holding a general class license, KD5AFE, and have just gotten involved in Genealogy. I also dabble in webpage design, mainly my own page, but will help friends out in a pinch. I collect walking canes(have to use them, so why not collect)smoking pipes, and shaving gear of all types.
One of my newest endeavers is learning to play the guitar (Fender accoustic DGA-1, entry level guitar, but decent to learn on lol).
