That's a bit of an odd way to judge people, but it's your way I suppose. It seems to me that it would be either rather overwhelming to keep track which religious community falls short by skipping a condemnation of a given murder, or you have different standards for different religions.

In my view stereotyping is wrong and it never leads to anything good - use at your own risk.

The guy is a nutcase in my book, but so are many people.

Fair enough! I'm just not sure how to sort the mentality with the behavior. I had a friend a few years back that was Muslim: he was a wonderful person with a heart of gold! We'd often discuss religion as I love theology. The topic came to honor killings and I said I didn't get it. His reply was very simple and very disturbing: "If a Muslim father is dishonored by his family, wife, children, friends, or anyone for that matter, it is commanded by Allah to regain his honor by killing the one who dishonored him." (It isn't verbatim but very close.) I asked him if he could possible kill his wife, his children, another person, or me and his reply was: "Do not ask what you do not want to hear!" That was the end of one of the best friendships I've ever had!

I know of no other culture / religion that teaches where taking the life of a loved one because they did not do as you asked is acceptable. Sparq; you come up with a better name and I'll use it!

I am not in a disagreement with you. I personally find their system of values and lack of respect for life and for free will unacceptable; I can not respect such a culture. On the other hand, I do not think that generalizing this case into a Muslim vs. Western way of life clash in the media can help. There are too many politically correct idiots out there who are hungry for their five minutes of fame.
