You guys just have it too easy in the good old USA, owning handguns and longarms down under is a real pain in the arse these days....thanks to the Port Arthur Massacre and successive government full of bleeding heart liberals. Firearms are a bit like razors; one can never have to many...well maybe.
Personally my favourite rifle is a 308w built on an 98 Mauser action refurbished by Famage in 1952, Ramline synthetic stock fitted with custom hinged floor plate, Timney trigger topped with an 8x50 Meopta scope in in a one price bridge mount. About twenty year back I used to shoot military fullbore but gave that away when the federal Gov't closed the local military rifle range and sold the land. The remaining ten or so rifles I have are in various calibres. No Semi autos, for the most part these were banned several years ago unless you are a primary producer and you require them for vermin control

See now, I also attributed the tenacity and sportsworthiness of Aussie athletes and soldiers to a founding heritage of spirited pirates and outlaws .... It sounds like the gene pool may have weakened recently. ink: .... but I hope not.

    Chris,
Those rifles your brother makes look quite nice!
FXR-say it ain't so. I thought gun laws HERE were depressing. Oh well.

I carry my Glock 9mm 19C concealed almost all of the time, (It's about time that we got CCW rights in MO!). I love the gun, but sometimes I think it would be more comfortable to carry something smaller, perhaps even a revolver.

Yumm. A gun thread. I have a few handguns that I really like, notably 2 Glocks, a 21 & 30. Ugly yes, but highly functional. I also picked up an early Wilson 1996 A2 ser. number <250 last year that changed my mind about 1911's. What a shooter!! I have a silky smooth Browning pump for my infrequent duck hunts, and scaring the crap out of guests ink: . Also recently received a pre-WWII Walther PPK in 32ACP that was my late grandfathers, I had it restored, very nice old gun. Then there are the AR-15's and various other shock and awe wheelguns... Still want a Kimber in .22LR, and maybe one of the newer rimfire .17 rifles. They sound like a blast to shoot.

I own a couple of hand guns and shotguns. I have a Beretta Tomcat .32. Nice little carry gun but hell on the ears when fired. A glock 23 .40 cal this is a great shooting gun. And a S&W .22 target pistol my son loves shooting this pistol. I have my first shootgun my dad bought meabout 20 yrs ago a remington wingmaster 870 20 gauge with the slug barrel. I also have a Browning BPS 12 gauge. I had to go to this gun because I am left handed and got tired of being hit in the head by ejected huls. But I would rather shoot the old 20 ga. anyday. I also have a old western auto 22 rifle that I like to just play around with.

As far as handguns.....I have a ruger .22 bullbarrel tricked out with a 2 power lupold scope, grips and action by volqersten, a colt combat commander .45, a S&W 9mm, Colt Trooper .357, A small berreta .22 that fits in my back pockett (dont ask me how I know ink: ), a S&W .22 stainless revolver. A Remington 1187 trap 12 gauge that I use for, well, trap as well as sporting clays. And a Charles Dailey SxS made in Italy that I inherited from my late uncle. A Ruger 10/22 target rifle with forged barrel, Lupold target scope and action job. A old .30 carbine from THE war. A thirty-thirty Wenchester cowboy carbine, and an old Ruger 10/22 for plinking. Those are my rifles, those are my guns, they are for shooting, they are for fun.

Looking back through the post, I'm feeling like an underachiever. I have an older Remington .22 rifle and an Ortgies 6.35 (.25ACP) semi-auto "Pocket Pistol." But they're fun to shoot.
On a recent date night with my wife, we went to the indoor shooting range. (Call me romantic ) She had never been there with me, and had not shot a gun before. She wanted to shoot standing, and wasn't as steady in her aim as she could've been at first. So I showed her how she could rest her elbows on the counter to get a better aim. She said she didn't want to shoot it that way. Her words were something like "If I ever have to use this for self-defense, I'm not going to have a place to stop and rest my elbows." Good point.
She actually did really well for her first time. She said she wants to go back.
    I'm up for that.

Anybody ever tried one of the Kahn over and under Shot Guns? I saw a nice sale on them and was going to pick one up for some sporting clay fun. I am a total novice. Lynn
