Thanked: 11 of the reasons I dislike "Walther", well the only, is "emotional". :-)
Dutch police uses the p5, no safety, and absolutely no clue on how to use them.
The amount of accidents over the past .....
Talking about beauty though, the old WWII Lüger still is one of the most beautiful guns in my book (as in design/looks).

Thanked: 79I actually like the look of that Steyr scout rifle, or Mannlicher (I think they are the same company perhaps??) It looks EXTREMELY practical to me...
Kelly, excellent selection from those two sites you posted earlier, for now WAY out of my price range, but I can dream, after all....maybe if I sell a car....thanks for the links anyway
I am fond of rifles and carbines in general, and am generally passable with anything I pick up. Sidearms? depends.
I am decent with a 1911 and a Beretta M9 (issued the 1911 first, but shortly after it was always the M9), and more recently my outfit carried M11 Sig 9mm's.
On a budget I like Mossberg shotguns, and Savage (who knew?) makes a mean budget precision rifle (1/2 moa guarantee, wish I could remember which one) and more fun can not be had than with a good old surplus M1, either the rifle or the carbine. Pistols? Ruger gets overlooked, but I've never had a bad experience with one, both revolvers as well as automatics, and they are cheap and very accurate, to boot.
Money no object? Perhaps one of the M24/M40 type bolt guns like Kelly has, a Benelli shotgun, and well, I do love Rugers...that or an HK or a quick pointing Walther. Oh heck. I'd just buy everything like I do razors, and the next thing you know the neighbors would be whispering....

Thanked: 1On the Steyr Mannlicher thing.
I think they were 2 x companies, steyr more for the law/military and Mannlicher as more the consumer/hunter type gun, both fishing eachothers water. So they merged.
Do you guys think that ,being on a different continent, you get "pushed" more to the American made arms where we overhere tend/get pushed to look at German/Austrian sooner?
