Slept through 55 tattoos???? - The plot thickens
BBC NEWS | Europe | Belgian girl's tattoo 'nightmare'
I mean..really...come ON!!! She fell asleep and only woke up on the last one? So, let me ask...did she let him finish it, or does she have half a star on her nose?

Thanked: 402LOL I've seen her on the news yesterday!
Unbelievable! Sounds to me like a poor girl being between her own freaky ideas and her parent's embarrassment about them.Last edited by 0livia; 06-17-2009 at 12:54 PM.

I've been a pro tattooer for a couple of decades. I've been asked to tattoo a face maybe a dozen times and I wouldn't under any circumstances. I was discussing these poor souls who get their face covered with another pro and he said that it was "social suicide". I agree with that assessment. The poor kid didn't know what the social consequences of what seemed like a good idea at the time. That is where it is the responsibility of the tattooist to refuse to put a mark on someone that will cause them grief down the road. Many of the younger artists haven't go a clue though. Too bad. At least there is laser now and she can get rid of that abomination.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Questions questions.....
- "Falling asleep" during a face tattoo??
- The father went out "for an icecream" and came back at the end? I guess they were still milking the cow for the ice cream, because 53 stars (56 minus 3 desired ones that he may or may not have seen) can't be tattood on in less than an hour.
- From what I read girl was happy with it until dad stepped in.
- "Falling asleep" during your first tattoo?? That takes as short as a walk to the icecream shop down the street and enjoying an icecream?
The outside of the head might be full of stars now, but the inside seems full of excrements to me.
Hilarious though.
edit: Laser doesn't fix it entirely, does it? From what I saw from some time ago you'll keep some marks.

Thanked: 402Yep, you always keep scars. Nitric acid is just as good and with the same result.
The stars are actually quite beautifully set.
Probably they will make her career though.
Well maybe she's got some skills where they fit.

I just looked at it.
Personally, I think this is a case of
a) a silly young girl imagining it would be cool to have a face full of stars. or
b) a silly young girl asking for a tattoo without really explaining what she wants and assuming the tattooist would understand, and then falling asleep.
Falling asleep during a tattoo job? Yeah... right...
I hardly think the tattoo artist would do this on purpose, since he would have know in advance it would land him in trouble.
That said, if Iwas a tattoo artist and a young girl cam in asking for facial tattoos, I would ask for her to write it down or say it to the security camera before hand.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Unfortunately for her, she's killed the majority of career paths. It's maybe not how it should be, but that's how it is. Although she'd already chosen a profession, as a hairdresser, she'll limit her options there as well.
I think Jimmy's right in stating that it's a social suicide. Or at least a social isolation. It's sad, but it's how it is. And no matter how tolerant people are, the looks usually give the first impression in seconds.

Thanked: 402Yes he is, and letting people who go for such a major change in their appearance sign up is a good idea as well.
Hairdresser is a bit low.... performance artist may be.

Jimmy, and all other Pro's out there, I served with a few guys that came from Somoa and other islands in the South Pacific and from what I could tell and what they told me, tat's on the face, in certain cultures, is a sign of maturity or other relevant items in regards to their cultures. Just wondering, if you guys were asked by someone like this, would you consider putting a tat on the face? As a side note, I know this would be unusual since again, my conversations with these guys have led me to believe they do their inking with a "primitive" piece of equipment dating back quite a few years.

as someone who has been inked a couple of times, let me tell you it would be VERY hard to fall asleep during something that painful unless you are high as a kite.
