Latest update: there is a witness confirming the story of the tat artist.
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

last time I got ink done (at a very upscale shop) they printed a copy of my design along with measurements, a small diagram showing where on my body it was to go, and a small contract/disclaimer both I and the tattoo artist signed. you pay a helluva premium for that, but it's worth it.

Release forms became de rigueur in the late '80s early '90s in many shops. Still a customer can sue if the artist is seriously negligent. While as a rule I do not make decisions for people, I do tattoos and the motto is "you pick 'em and we stick 'em" OTOH, I do have a certain sense of responsibility.
If a person is getting a tattoo that may cause negative social consequences I will pull their coat before I do it. I had a guy get a portrait of Che Guevara on his arm. I asked him if he knew that there were people who might be very offended if they saw that image tattooed on him. Even enough to possibly do him bodily harm. He said that he did and he was a grown man so he got what he wanted and I had fulfilled my personal code of professional responsibility.
As I said I won't do faces. I also won't do hate tattoos, gang related or swastikas. I had a couple of skinheads come in not long ago wanting swastikas. I told them that I don't do them. They asked why. I gave them my standard reply to the question, "Because my father and my uncle used to kill people that wore swastikas". The few people I've had to say that to always look a little shocked as they head for the door.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

We had a german tattooer on the news topic today and he said that according to EU regulations its strictly forbidden to work on sleeping people because you can't make out the difference between sleep and being knocked out. The latter could lead to severe consequences, like swallowing your tongue and so on. Hence he believes the girl lies.
Some even think the stars are faked and she only wants on the news.

Jimmy, thanks for having a personal code that you stick with. It seems like too many people these days will do anything to turn a buck and will sacrifice what morals they do have in order to turn that buck.
I'm glad it looks like the artist's story is getting corroborated. If she made a bad choice, she should live with it and not try to place the blame on the person she hired to institute that choice. I can't imagine any tattoo artist that would go wild on a design because he/she felt like it. "You know, a couple stars just isn't cool enough...I'm going to knock her out and turn her face into the night sky!" Yeah, doesn't really sound plausible.

"The call log of her mobile phone and SMS activity could easily show that from the start of the session to its end she wasn’t sleeping"
Busted!
I didn't know they had chavs in Belgium.

Thanked: 317I know that most of this has already been said, but I've got to say it.
BULL-SH*T
Total BS.
Not a chance.
I only have one tattoo, right on my chest, and while I wouldn't describe the experience as painful, there's is absolutely NO WAY a person could fall asleep while getting that much ink done on their face.
Not possible.
No how.
No way.
The only question remaining is what it is she lied about.
A. She didn't fall asleep, but was so intoxicated that she may not have been fully conscious, (might still allow for texting)
or
B. Buyer's remorse and making up a story so people won't think she's as stupid as she obviously is.
I'd also like to know what the laws regarding tattoos are over there. Here in Oregon, you have to be 21 to get any tattoo. Period. Of the half dozen tattoo artists I've met around here, nobody would put that kind of tattoo on ANYBODY as a first tattoo.
I knew a guy in college who had his entire head tattooed (scalp and face). Even though he already had full sleeves, lot's of other ink, many piercings, and a split tongue, he said he'd had to shop around to find somebody who would do the kind of work he wanted done, and even then, the guy who did it insisted that they break it up into sessions over the course of a year and start with his neck, then the scalp, and only after they'd run out of real estate would he agree to move to the face.
I see so much irresponsibility in this that I really ticks me off.
- The girl should have realized that getting this kind of tattoo on her face at such a young age would be problematic.
- Her parents, who apparently went along with this, should have never allowed it.
- The tattoo artist should have taken the path of the inkers who have already posted here and refused to do that kind of work on such a young girl whether it's legal or not.
As far as this damaging the guy's business, I doubt it. As cynical as I am, I just can't believe than anybody would believe the girl's moronic story.

Again, not sure of the laws on that side of the pond, but I sincerely hope that the guy sues the girl and her family for slander.
Personally, I think he should have refused the job, but her "story" would amount to a terrible form of assault if it was true, and to falsely claim something like that is just evil.
