PETA. What a ridiculous organization. Some hippie probably spat out his granola when he saw that on TV and got on the horn to his buddies at PETA about it being the perfect way to drum up some new publicity for them.

We need to start a House Fly Rescue!! Maybe we could get some of the stimulus money to pay for it???

This is just ridiculous lunacy. PETA have ruined any credibility or influence (see KFC and the treatment of chickens) that they have ever had. I have never liked the group before, and consider them to be beyond farcical now.

on the value of human life:
"Animal liberationists do not separate out the human animal, so there is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy."

comparing eating fried chicken to the Holocaust:
"Six million people died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses. "

on bestiality:
"Having a purebred human baby is like having a purebred dog; it is nothing but vanity, human vanity. "
"If a girl gets sexual pleasure from riding a horse, does the horse suffer? If not, who cares? If you French kiss your dog and he or she thinks it's great, is it wrong?"

advocating violence against medical research facilities:
"I wish we all would get up and go into the labs and take the animals out or burn them down."
"Would I rather the research lab that tests animals is reduced to a bunch of cinders? Yes. "
"Our nonviolent tactics are not as effective. We ask nicely for years and get nothing. Someone makes a threat, and it works. "

Wow, I hope Ingrid there isn't responsible for anything of any magnitude other than say flushing the toilet (being the founder of PETA doesn't count as having ANY magnitude).

Is that seriously true, PETA protesting or is that a gag thing? I'm seriously asking.

If it's true, me thinks it's hypocritical on one hand for PETA so say they're the defenders of even the smallest of animals yet I do not see PETA defending the smallest of innocent animals; you know, deadly bacteria or viruses. Yeah, I see the founder said prions were cool, but I'm talking the defense of deadly non-discriminating human targeting bacteria or viruses! Come on, SOMEONE has got to stick up for those killers!

That may be a bit of a sweeping generalization, no? I don't think one tenth of one percent of people picked at random would agree with PITA on this "fly swatting" issue. Not even in Berkley. In fact, I'll bet not even one percent of one percent. This isn't cause to think that the world's going to hell in a handbasket.

I'm a strong believer in "live and let live". The rule I live by (and try to teach my son to live by) is to only kill what you will eat, or what might harm you. Flies carry a pretty good ammount of disease, so they get the swatter. Sorry.
