Michael Jackson is dead.
I can't say I was a huge fan but it is pretty shocking.

Thanked: 586Wow, terrible loss. Somehow I think making snotty comments like "good riddence" is a little coarse and short sighted. As creepy as Michael was, his contributions to the world of pop music are innumerable.
I often wondered what ever happened to that remarkable little black kid who sang his heart out in Rockin' Robin or the coolest dancer we ever saw when he released Billie Jean and showed us all the Moon Walk for the first time. I will never forget the first time I watched the Thriller video. Those zombies rocked! I think Wierd Al Yankovic will probably cry his eyes out for the loss.

well... blame it on the boogey!
The king of pop is dead, indeed.
The guy was a genius of pop music. He defined a lot of what was pop music when he was at his best - billy jean, thriller... you choose.
But then he decided that nip-tuck wasn't good enough and turned himself into the first beige man - he was black and wanted to be white - he failed.
Then the scandals started... so many scandals and very little work. He ran out of talent. That must have taken it's toll...
Now he died - he has the makings of a myth. But he spoiled everything...
Reminds of that Sinatra song:
"and now I go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like sleeping with little kids..." So sad.
But we have the good pop music he left behind. And the 1970's disco with his brothers.
So... rest in peace, Michael Jackson. Just try to keep away from the angels and cherubs, will you?!...

As much as I enjoyed his contributions to the entertainment world when I was growing up I can't say I'll miss him. Too much controversy in his later years and as much as I like eccentrics he took it too far and to places nobody in their right mind would go.

I never liked his music or his silly little dances, so pedophilia aside I still wouldn't have missed him.
"King of Pop" is a ridiculous title anyway when you consider pop music covers the likes of new kids on the block, n sync, and britney spears. That's like being the smartest kid with down syndrome.
EDIT: Sorry Rob, I was typing before you posted that. I'll shut up now.

Thanked: 3I skipped on a chance to see James brown 30 days b4 he died....wouldn't have minded seeing michael jackson. I was not alive to see Hendrix or the beatles so it would have made up for it.....for me at least. Most people become more fantastic after they die anyway. Most are not appreciated until they are gone...just human nature.
