    Default iPad

Ok people, I am starting a thread on Apples new creation. Let the geeks come out and have their say!

Personally, I think looks awesome, but not sure how much I would be able to make use of it. Still waiting for Jobs to announce a price too…

It seems kinda silly... Basically just a big iPod. You cant load photoshop or other such applications, and it is not very powerful. Might be fun for reading, or watching a movie or even playing a game, but not practical to use at the job, or school IMO. If it were more powerful, and could load applications like word editors and such, I would definitely be interested, especially at the aggreable price of $500 for 16gb

Meh. At those price points I'd rather get a netbook or a smart phone.

As an old newspaper employee, I hate to see it; but, like it or not, I'm afraid these gadgets are the way of the future. The printed page will one day be a thing of the past.

I agree… the name is a bit flawed.

It does have iWork, including keynote, so there is potential for productivity. I give a lot of presentations at work, so I could see the keynote functionality being especially useful. Not sure that that is enough though.

I almost got a Kindle DX this Christmas but the library is a 10 min walk away.

If it comes in at the price of a Kindle it will have trouble without a lot of
additional features and expansion or removable memory (SD card?).

I guess I will have to wait to see one in person. I know that netbooks are
almost OK. The screen size/ resolution of netbooks seems to be at
odds with most web site designers.

Clearly the key test is if it will permit posting to this forum.
