    Default The Anti-Christ?

OK, OK...you don't like liberals, I get it. OK, you think some of the things that Obama is doing falls too far into the world of "socialism." But the Anti-Christ?
I knew the whacknuts of the right and left had some pretty "out there" views...but these percentages are simply terrifying.

Quarter of Republicans Think Obama May Be the Anti-Christ - Yahoo! News

32% say he is a Muslim.
25% say he was born outside the US and is thus not eligible to be president (SERIOUSLY?)

Guys, could I please just say, make sure you keep your posts civil and on-topic. The mod team has our eye on this one as this sort of thing is a pretty hot topic at the moment and we dont want to see things head south.

    Thanks,

    Stu

Do you believe everything you read?

I can say with a certainty that President Obama is not the anti christ. No horns or pitchfork, DUH!

It came from an online survey - I think this could be a case of 80% of all statistics are as laughable as what they suggest

If such a large percentage of folks hold these views though, we should probably be careful calling them whacknuts as there may be hundreds of forum members reading who hold those views. however since it's an online survey, I don't really put much stock in it

When you look at the number of people who can't point out the US on a map, is it really surprising? I wouldn't put much stock in the reliability of that survey anyway...

As Abe Lincoln said, "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time." I think he would have approved of the results of our last election.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Everyone knows that 73% of statistics are meaningless.

As for your second paragraph, good point. Though I will say that I would be be unlikely to be able to hold my tongue in a gentlemanly fashion and NOT call someone a whacknut for actually claiming him as the Anti-Christ. Even the kindhearted individual in the elveator this morning who refered to this as the "administration for (f-word for homosexual) and (n-word)" I believe would agree with me.

I would like to add that Obama was neither lead singer, nor lyrics writer for the band Slayer around their 1983 album Show No Mercy.

This of course does not keep the following in mind:
    - The truthfulness of statements made in the performance "The Anti-Christ" on the aforementioned album, most notably the convincing repeated exclamations "I am the anti-christ!!".
    - Any other involvement the President may have had with said band during or before aforementioned period.
    - The possibility of existence of multiple anti-christs.

This one is actually very easy to explain

The wack-a-dos on the left think he is Jesus H. Christ
The wack-a-dos on the right obviously would oppose that, and think he is the Anti-Christ

The key here is my use of the word Wack-a-do which is clearly meant to signify the 10% on either side of the political spectrum that the news media talk to... Leaving the other 80% of us that fall somewhere in the middle with no voice and basically no representation

Thank me later for clarifying this for you

Eh, I'll just thank you now. I'd like to think it's even less than 10%, but I fear the extreme attitudes that are, OF COURSE just a reaction tot he extremeattittudes on the other side, which are OF COURSE just a reaction to the extreme attitudes on teh other side....etc, are starting to encroach upon our cozy home here in the center.
