Also, look out for Portugal, and one of the stronger african teams.[/QUOTE]

Portugal does seem like a good pretender for the top 10 teams. In my opinion we will not win the world cup. Not by a long mile... If Portugal plays the 1/2 final I will be very happy indeed. The Coach is not what he's cracked-up to be and the team is not the best we've seen in the previous years.
If only we could have the Euro 2004 team back (except the goalie... he sucked! :P) and if that team was coached by Mourinho... If only... then Portugal could frighten some of the best out there.

Of course, for me, there is only one team to cheer for: Portugal! But I do it by default... I don't even like football.

    Almost time!

A colleague sent me this link. Marca.com is Spanish sports paper dealing with Real Madrid and they have a slick Flash wheel that lets you view matches by country, group, match site, or match day:

In the opening match I'm pulling for S. Africa over Mexico.

Ok guys who saw the game this morning?

    What did you guys think?

South Africa put up a good fight and almost got a nice goal in at the end but they hit the post.

Any predictions for the France game?

MEX had more clear chances, but credit to RSA for the amazing cross shot into the top right corner. They could have stole the show, but funny how those posts seem to grow when the pressure is on.

I am sure France will go through, but Karma is a funny thing. Forlan is good, but France is solid.

Well that was disappointing. France did not play up to their potential.

Anelka and Ribery kept making stupid passes and always loosing the ball. Should of brought on Henry sooner i think.

yeah, i agree. the france - ecuador was unexciting. only real close one was in the first few mins with the cross from the left side.

For tomorrows games I'm gonna have to say the winners would be Greece, Argentina and hate to say it but I think England has the edge over the USA.

Max and I must have started watching at around the same time, totally agree about the 74 final. Good to see that Drogba seems to be OK for some playing time at least.

The Argentina/Nigeria match was well contested. The game's lone goal came quite early but there were plenty of chances for both sides afterward. Nigeria's keeper had some really nice saves and it seemed like Messi was inches away from having several scores.

2 1/2 hours until USA/ENG and we're finishing the food prep for a little soccer party. I'm hoping like heck that Altidore and Donovan can do something special today!

Indeed it was, best one so far. Still a long way to go though. Good luck and may the best team win today (so long as it's England).
