I'm still in shock after last night. I've played in Sunday League games more exciting than that.
When I take up Boulles next week, let it be known it was the England-Algeria match that pushed me that way.

Well England and US advance, and the US won the group!
Wow what an epic game. I took an extra long lunch to go home and watch it at home. Another questionable call disallowed a US goal, but we had plenty of other chances to score and wound up with a mixture of bad shots and great saves.
I actually feel bad for the Algerian goalie as he played great. Still, Altidore had a great run and good ol' Landon finished the play to put the US into the knockout round!
Between this and the Slovenia game, I'd say that the US has had the most exciting matches. Of course, I'm biased.

I'm English (though I've lived in Asia my whole life) and I just have to say the English have been playing some absolute crap football. They are lucky to still be in it, they deserved to win the Slovenia game but thats about it. I don't think the football has been of that great quality this world cup. Brazil look alright though but that isn't a surprise. Hope it gets a bit more interesting in the next round.

It's only been the group stages so far. Whatever this competition is remembered for, it starts with the knockouts, same as it ever was. Tasty draw with Germany v. England. Both played two not bad games, one bad game clever money on Germany NOOOOOOO. Please, not penalties.
(Prediction follows: USA to win the cup within 12 years from this tournament.)

Everyone keeps reminding me of how bad a start Italy had last time around and then went on to win the world cup.
True, but that's Italy. Even if England pick their game up, we have Germany, then most likely Argentina, Brazil and Spain as the route to the final.
Easy then.

Thanked: 68Oh Well. New Zealand are headed home.
Great overall result for the lowest ranked team.
No losses. 2 goals conceded.
The Aussies are gone with less points and more goals conceded.
And Italy has gone home too, in fourth place in the pool...Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!

Damn Japan sent Jutes aka Denmark home. I wished that the northernmost team of the games would have gone further. They should have deserved it.
It was a good and fair game after all and Japan was better in the field.
My heart beats still for Netherlands and Germany.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

How about Portugal? Nobody saw that? 7 - 0 to North Korea?! A massacre! Slaughter! One of the record scores of a final phase of the WC.
