England was outplayed, fair and square. It's a shame, but the team just didn't live up to it's potential.
The England players are outstanding in club football, maybe the sum of all the egos doesn't add up to a team.
Perhaps, compared to other nations, we play too much club football, which affects fitness.'Living the dream, one nightmare at a time'

Well today's games were much more decisive than yesterday's. Germany and Argentina both looked excellent despite controversy, and I'm really looking forward to the match between them.
Tevez' second strike in the Argentina game was sick. Nothing fancy about it, just an absolute rocket into the top corner. The goalie was probably lucky he didn't get a hand on that.

What an awful display by England. Defence was asleep and needed a map to find their positions on the pitch, midfield left a whacking great hole in the middle, and the forwards could do nothing without the service they needed. Yes, we were robbed of a goal, but on the strength of that performance I seriously doubt if it would have made any difference. The mistakes were elementary and probably would have happened with or without the 'second' goal.
Germany thoroughly deserved the win.
Argentina looked good. Incredible blast from Tevez. The Germany/Argentina game looks set to be a real humdinger. Argentina's weaker defence gives Germany a decent chance (particularly with Ozil's speed going down the flanks), but Argentina has the Messi factor.

Congrats Spain and Portugal for really good game. Better team won although Spain = David Villa.
Now it is most interesting to see how Germany-Argentina goes later this week. Argentinas defence has not been tested this far.
My thumbs are up for Germany and Netherlands.

NED/BRA and ARG/GER will hopefully be two great and well-contested games with no controversy. Funny that I wasn't particularly interested in the JAP/PAR match but caught the end and it was quite exciting. Penalty kicks are always fun when you're impartial towards both teams.
Spain is my team of choice right now, followed closely by Argentina. Villa and HiguaĆn have not disappointed thus far.

Portugal is out of the competition... well done Spain. You are the ones who get to move on.
I'm not a sore looser but I do think that Portugal played better football. I mean... the first half was clearly dominated by the strategic game of the Portuguese team and the defense was very well organized. Portugal also created more goal opportunities. The Spanish team looked like playing at random. After the half time the tables turned, though. The aggresiveness of the Spanish team ended up in a goal and the Portuguese team demoralized after that.
However, that expulsion of a Portuguese player near the end of the match was a very sad thing. The spaniards were being too agressive and displaying their usual rivalry with Portugal. Meaning: faults after faults... the referee, at a point decided wrongly - two players from opposite teams jump to the ball in the "big area" (sorry, don't know the correct term in English) and the spaniard falls to ground as if hurt! The portuguese player was almost a metter away from him! No body contact whatsoever! That grinds my wheels!
But, in the end of the day, it's Spain that gets to movo on to the next stage. So... well done.
(I hope they loose! )
