Salt Liquorice I can only find in Europe. Best part is I don't ever have to go there to get it. I have many Danish and Swede clientele who regularly go and pick me up my favorites. They are:

The Turkish Pepper is a hard candy, that if dropped in a bottle of Vodka, and left to dissolve, makes a superb beverage.
You can also shop and buy online.

ok, now i have read all the above, and i have to put my 2 cents in. i got this taste from my father when i was young, but have expanded on it. take a fresh tomato or 4, and cut them up, small cubes, med slivers all up to you. place in a bowl, and now for my addition, sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on it all. then cover with mayo, and season to taste. all thats left is to dig in. and as for other snacks, PRETZLES freshly baked soft and good, made at home is better, but i love the ones in philly when i can get up to visit family, they are great. and lastly CHOCOLATE dark preferably.

'Salmiakki' aka salt liquorice is maybe the most common 'candy' here.
Unlike traditional liquorice the taste is not always sweet, but rather 'salty'. Some brands are quite strong, almost impossible to eat (and maybe that is why they so popular). Some people crush or melt this salt liquorice into vodka. Very popular, but dangerous as you cannot taste alcohol after that.
I do not know why if it is available elsewhere. I've never seen it in continental Europe.
Unlike other candies, here it is available in pharmacies as well (pure salmiakki without added sugar).
Here's the link that might tell you more.

I love cutting the side of a bag of corn chips off then filling it with chili then covering the chili with sharp cheese and some sour cream. Then wash it down with an Ice Cold Dixie Beer

I have to say that licorice just isn't right unless there is a "DZ" on it. I live in a dutch community and got a taste early on for the good stuff. I also have to have a Wilhelmina during the sermon at my dutch reformed church. And where is life without a proper stroopwafel (sp)? Oh and zandkoekjes (sp).
    I miss my grandma's cooking.
I also have a really good recipe for dark chocolate brownies that are just oh so gooey!
    Thanks grandma!
