I haven't had a land line in many years. I also have a Google number that I give out to people or stores that I don't want to give my real number to.
I have both numbers listed on the national "do not call" list.

Gave up the land line two years ago. The only calls we got on it were telemarketers.

Thanked: 247I don't remember having a land line since I moved out of my parents house. I may have had one when I was 17-21, but I'm just not sure. It's been a little while.

I haven't had a land line in years and years. Even today, I won't empty my voicemail, so I can't get new messages. My motto has always been: My cell is MY tool, not yours. I'll call or text back if I can be bothered to.

Thanked: 150I have both cell phones (my wife and I) as well as a land line. I have daughters, and I want them to be able to pick up a phone, dial 911, and the operator will have a physical address to which they can send help. With a cell phone, the operator would have to get the address from them, and in emergency situations I want that information simply provided to the operator automatically.

That, and having a landline means that your kids can call home anytime, and you'll hear it.
Our cell phones are not in the bedroom (unless there is a special reason) but there is a phone connected to the landline.
Furthermore, the landline phone is never on 'silent mode'.
