True Oz. Some things just want to coil around you and crush the life out of you, before attempting to swallow you head first hey?!

I once had a Mexican chiquita that was like that; then she ran off to Canada.

I find kookaburras quite polite, myself. A bit swoopy though. And opinionated, not not as much as magpies...
The photo is at Deep Creek, where I wish my backdoor was. Does anyone think maybe it's front door time yet? Probably is...

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

They're the perfect gentleman of the avian world Carl. I once saw one being hassled by a noisy laurokeet & the kooka simply leaned over & grabbed him by the neck & gave him a little squeeze. I half expected that he'd bite his head off but no, just showed him what could happen if he didn't shut up & let him go after a few seconds.

Of course they do, they're a real crack up. Real party animals. Laughing all the time. Actually, they're rather dour birds, not like swallows and parrots. Swallows and parrots know what it's all about; they're got it pegged...

I was going to hold off on this one until the maples across the street changed colour. But unfortunately I'm heading out of town tonight so I'll probably miss them when they are at their finest. I'm also bending the rules a bit as I don't really have a back door, so this is doo doo doo lookin' out my front window.

I also choose to ignore the big honkin' street between my place and the park over there.

EDIT: I just saw Carl's front door proposal. Does this just mean I'm slightly ahead of the curve here? That would be a welcome change.

MickR, 32t, Hirlau and 1 others like this.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
