Ok gents not exactly my back garden but definately from my back garden.

My wife and I wanted to teach my step daughter the wonder of growing your own food. So we got her to help plant some seeds in the greenhouse and then replant the shoots into growing bags on the patio. The wee one took to the peas and as such we have none left because as soon as they grew she ate them but they did grow lol.

Now I know there isnt a lot there and I know they arent very big but today I did a final dig around in the bag and below is what I reaped. Like I say very little but I'm happy for a first attempt and I learnt some things for next year.
They will he served with dinner tonight.

Carrots are a bugger to grow. Never had any bloody success with them in the past.

Now then. Carrots. I know carrots. Very well prepared soil. Lightly sown, thinly sown, shallowly sown seed. Covered with hessian, folded over, kept moist. Check daily for when the cotyledon emerges. Take the hessian of at night (but not if there's a frost) when the cotyledon is emerging. Thin ruthlessly.

Here is mine. You can see that I have my pool put away for the winter. It is the pink spot on the saw horses. It is a really nice one, about 18" deep with Hello Kitty on the side!
