Thanked: 44If only you could buy joints at the liquor store like cigarettes and booze. Pot is no more dangerous than either. Or at the pharmacy, over the counter: Side effects of pot?
Reduced anxiety
stomach ache relieve
headache relieve
pain reducer
appetite inducer
and a wealth of other benefits. the side effects are no worse than alcohol, no more dangerous than cigarettes. I agree: its the bible thumpers, the uber-conservatives, and people who don't see the world for what it is, follow the law without questioning it, and people who have never tried pot, or are too close-minded to understand why some people do. Let people live their lives how they want, so long as it doesn't effect others.

A lot of people have that notion. Legalize it and we'll be a nation of pot heads. I smoked it back in my teens and early into my mid twenties here and there when I was playing in bands, but even if they did legalize it I wouldn't partake, not my bag anymore. The same goes for a lot of people, just as ones who don't drink or smoke for whatever reasons, the same will apply w/ the sticky icky. Look at Amsterdam for example.

Well I am going to say this -> First, most of those foreigners get the scholarships because they have to work harder as per the mandate of their visa's. And because they have to be more competitive! Second, given the chance, I would bet 95% would stay and not only contribute to America, but become American's too!
Take for me for example. When I went to the job fair, I went to the Hills booth and began to wow the lady there. When it came up that I was Canadian, she jumped back and stated, "we aren't hiring foreigners!" The dumb cow. Foreigners need to work hard bro!David

Whoa now, I think it came out wrong. What I am saying as if you deserve that scholarship more than me, based on whatever criteria they use; then by all means you earned it. What I AM saying is, that there shouldn't be a mandate for federally and state funded schools to have to "fill" a certain number of these scholarships to receive grant money, and other fundings. By all means, if your grades are better, you work harder, and deserve it...then you deserve it no questions! Like I said I had friends who were exchange students that worked their ass off for what they got, but from their mouth to my ears, there were some in their house who got the scholarships b/c they applied, and the numbers had to be met. That's what I find a problem with.

That IS a problem. I think I did misread you. I'll say this. I don't know if foreign exchange students should have access to all scholarships. I guess ultimately the people who set up those scholarships have the right to make them open to all or some, and the college can accept the terms or not, but it's always been a weird thing for me.
I was offered a few scholarships. I fought myself large about it all. Being in America paying twice the tuition and not being allowed to work really bites! It's making me poor! So I wanted to take it. But I know the people who set it up wanted it to go to help out a young farm kid from the Kansas plains. Not a 40 something Canuck who chose to be here... you know?? So I never took any of them.
Then one day I was talking to the head of the Masters program and he asked why I didn't take any of the scholarships. When I explained my rational he laughed and said, "well, I hope you don't do anything with your life because if you do, I am sure those who offered you help would like to have taken some credit for it lol."
I hate it when there are so many grey areas LOL!!David

No, believe me. If you worked hard and earned it, then by all means you deserve it; that's what anything in life should be based on; regardless of race, creed, or nationality. That's what this country was originally founded on. As I said, some of my friends were from other countries who worked hard to get where they were, and I whole heartedly believe they deserved it. However, I was also informed by them, that a lot of the people in their house got these scholarships w/ average grades, and such, but they just applied, and the numbers had to be filled regardless; that's what I am opposed to. Earn what you get based on your performance and dedication, not b/c you were first in line w/ the paperwork.

Believe me, if you earned it, you should've taken it. That's what you were working hard for and you deserved that chance bro. When I first started school, I went for an all paid scholarship with The Marching Southerners for the 20J (tuba) line. I worked my ass off for months, I picked the hardest piece of music I could find, that was on a master orchestral level. I went in played for the director of the music program himself. He said he couldn't believe a high school kid could play such a difficult piece w/ the finesse I showed him. The girl (who was the only girl) came in and played twinkle twinkle little star (I shit you not). Later I found out I didn't get the scholarship; I was buddies w/ one of the guys on the line and talked to him...The girl got the scholarship b/c they had to have 1 female in every section to keep their funding from the state!!! They offered me $500/semester, but I had to work full time to afford tuition, and books, b/c I didn't qualify for loans at the time (too young). They called for weeks to get me to join and I basically just said you made your choice live w/ it. Later in the semester I had a music theory class w/ this girl; she couldn't even read bass cleft music!!!! Turns out she played the xylephone but wasn't good enough, and the 20J's had one full paid scholarship, and no females trying out, so she went and tried out b/c if no other girls came in she had it in the bag!

Thanked: 10Legalize Pot... ?
Back to the topic at hand...I just voted to approve medicinal usage here in Arkansas
While I think that it should be legalized and taxed (no, I don't think this is going to solve our nations budgetary concerns; no I don't like taxation but it a necessary evil), all we can do is work towards the goal....baby steps *fingers crossed*
