Thanked: 884Took mine to the Cowtown Gun Show today. Talk a bout a train wreck! It was a MAD HOUSE, but EVERYBODY was polite.
LOTS of black rifles for sale at idiotic prices. Seems the first wave through the door wasn't worried about the price of the first black rifle they saw and paid it. So everybody that didn't get one sold in the first wave jacked up the prices. Didn't see any changing hands in the 2.5 hours I was there. I didn't find what I was looking for. Saw a couple of old buddies, the boy bought some gun cases for his rifle and mine ( Crimmus present LOL).
We saw a lot of interesting over priced crap and had a lot of fun messing around.
Appears to me that at the prices those AR-15 clones have risen to, the gov't doesn't need to stop the sale as the prices are killing the sales now.
Meanwhile, TAKE THE POLL, show 'em what you think. I doubt they give a rat's rear end but we can show 'em anyway.

There was a gun show in Kansas City as well, I did not go, but from the stories I have heard I am glad I did not, it was pandemonium! Polite, but crazy.

Thanked: 884I heard several of the guys behind the tables complaining about the size of the crowd when I was there. That was a first for me. Those guys seem to gripe about everything.
Weren't any bargains on anything that I saw. Ran across a couple of old buddies from back in my gunshow days. Had a nice visit with them. Had some 7.5 Swiss ammo I was trying to peddle but everybody that asked about it wanted me to give it away. As they weren't trying to give their junk away, I was pretty snippy with 'em.
One ol boy asked the price and I told him, he thought it was a good price but had to wait on his brother to say yes or no. His bone head brother showed up and countered at half of what I asked, I countered by doubling my price. He looked like the butter slid off his biscuit. Then he wanted to look at the ammo again, I told him nope and since he obviously couldn't afford to buy it, there was no sense in me wasting my time standing in front of his table.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. From what I heard of the show in KC, dealers were damn near doubling their prices on some guns and did double the prices on ammo. One ammo dealer was asking a thousand dollars for a thousand rounds of .223

Thanked: 884I saw prices like that too. Cheapest Ar clone I saw was a Bushmaster for $1750. nothing was moving at those prices though. I guess the suckers had already bit.
Cheapest 7.62X51 NATO that I saw was .60 a pop for some off breed stuff called BROWN BEAR. May be good ammo, but I think I'll wait a bit.
Here's another news flash from the BATF re AMMO
Just got this email fresh from GRNC, sharing for those of you not in NC because everyone can do this. And do make sure you do it.
Will consider public comments until Dec 31st...
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is considering further restrictions for various types of ammunition used in both rifles and handguns. The new restrictions stem from the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968, which among other things restricted “Armor Piercing” ammunition and also set forth exceptions that were allowed. One such restriction banned handgun ammunition which had a composition where the materials were harder than lead.
In what appears to be yet another anti-gun initiative by the Obama administration, the BATFE is now considering reversing previous policy by banning ammunition which was originally designed for rifles but can also be used in certain handguns, such as the Thompson Contender or pistol versions of semi-automatic rifles, by claiming that some such ammunition does not meet the exception standards. At issue now is what changes the BATFE would make in further determining exceptions under the “sporting purposes” exceptions.
As BATFE documents note: “…in developing a narrow sporting purposes test, ammunition in traditional hunting calibers will become regulated.” Translated, common rifle ammunition, including steel-core ammunition, would be banned simply because a handgun happens to be chambered for that caliber – as such handguns have been for many decades.

There is still time!
The BATFE has opened the issue for public comment until December 31st, 2012. That gives us less than a month to have our voices heard in this issue. Take a moment and write to the BATFE using the email address provided below and let them know your concerns as they consider future changes to the “sporting purposes” exceptions to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which very well may result in further restrictions on commonly used ammunition.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!
Email The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives before December 31st.
Tell the BATFE that further restrictions are not needed and would be a serious violation of our rights under the Second Amendment.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE
Suggested Subject: "To the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives:"
To Whom It May Concern,
It has come to my attention that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is considering further restrictions for various types of ammunition used in both rifles and handguns as they pertain to the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968. I am personally concerned that further restrictions on commonly used ammunition would represent a serious breach of the intended scope of the original limitations set forth under the laws created in the Gun Control Act.
As BATFE documents note: “…in developing a narrow sporting purposes test, ammunition in traditional hunting calibers will become regulated.” Regulated? It would be effectively banned. I will not stand idly by while bureaucrats try to ban common rifle ammunition, including steel-core ammunition, simply because a handgun happens to be chambered for that caliber – as such handguns have been for many decades.
Respectfully,Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

You shouldn't also forget how the Warsaw ghetto uprising ended.
There are plenty of examples what has happened when 'people' (or that is what they liked to call themselves) have risen against governments, lastly our civil war. It is not civilians against government but divided nation fighting by themselves. Father against son, wife against husband. And the revenge and terror for those who finally lose. I wouldn't want to forget the lessons given by the struggles.
